Manager - Financial Services Risk


The opportunity

 

As a Manager in our Financial Services Risk team, you’ll lead client opportunities where your expertise can make a substantial impact. You’ll build trusted relationships across the industry, contribute to practice growth, and help develop high-performing teams through coaching, formal learning and collaboration with senior leaders and talented colleagues.

 

Across banking and capital markets, insurance, and asset management, we build a better working world by helping clients transform how risk is managed through a combination of regulatory, operational, and technology-enabled solutions. You’ll support this by leading strategy, design and implementation engagements across Australia’s leading financial institutions. Working in high-performing teams alongside risk management professionals, quantitative analysts, technologists, and former regulators, you’ll help clients respond to evolving regulatory expectations while building scalable, data-driven, and digitally-enabled risk and compliance functions.

 

This position can be based in Naarm – Melbourne or Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Lead the delivery of complex client engagements to a high standard, on time and within budget.
  • Build trusted client relationships and contribute to practice growth through identifying emerging client needs, shaping solutions, and supporting business development initiatives across Financial Services Risk service offerings – risk culture, conduct and compliance; financial crimes and AML advisory; credit, market and operational risk; enterprise risk management; regulation and prudential supervision.
  • Develop practical recommendations and lead teams in delivering solutions that enhance the management of risk.
  • Advise clients on regulatory, prudential and compliance obligations in a fast-changing environment.
  • Support clients in the design and implementation of technology-enabled risk and compliance solutions, including GRC platforms, risk and control transformation, and automation initiatives
  • Lead business process optimisation and transformation initiatives to help clients enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve governance practices.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in financial services consulting, risk management, regulatory compliance, controls assurance, business process optimisation, or a related role within a consulting firm, regulator or major financial institution.
  • A degree in finance, commerce, law, STEM or a related discipline, with post-graduate qualifications or professional certifications viewed favourably.
  • Experience delivering technology-enabled transformation initiatives involving GRC platforms, system design and implementation, automation or digital risk and compliance solutions.
  • Experience delivering business process optimisation engagements, including process redesign, controls enhancement, operating model uplift, or large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Strong capability in one or more of our Financial Services Risk service offerings, with the ability to lead teams and engagements,shape client solutions, and deliver strategic outcomes.
  • Commercially minded, self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to balance client service, team leadership and practice development.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging senior leadership, business, risk, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Interest or experience in emerging technologies and their application within risk, compliance, and governance functions, including automation and GenAI-enabled solutions.
