This role will place you at the heart of a high-performing, dynamic, agile EY CCaSS (Climate Change and Sustainability Services) team that is committed to helping clients build long-term value.
As Senior Manager, you will be helping our clients to achieve their sustainability ambitions. Your expertise will help the main actors in different industries to mitigate risks while addressing environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and ensuring compliance with the existing and new reporting standards.
This opportunity will enable you to work with leading organizations at a senior level and interact with EY colleagues globally and across service lines. There will also be ample opportunities to work across different areas within the wider team.
Your Key Responsibilities
For our corporate clients, you will:
- Develop new business opportunities in the field of sustainability
- Set up sustainability strategy plans for clients
- Support their sustainability journey, from strategy and implementation to reporting
- Advise, prepare and review non-financial reports
- Ensure compliance with the new reporting Directives (such as CSRD, EU Taxonomy)
- Perform ESG due diligence
- Manage project teams
Your Profile
Skills and attributes for success
EY is looking for a talented Senior Manager to help clients respond to issues across the sustainability agenda. Key desired attributes from candidates include:
- Knowledge and experience of business strategy and operations, with either a strong financial background and/or experience in the field of decarbonization strategies, impact measurement, and non-financial reporting
- Passion to help clients improve their sustainability in the long term by driving the development of intangible value drivers such as talent, innovation, corporate governance, and the creation of societal value
- Keen interest in helping clients better understand, measure, quantify, and articulate the (long-term) value they create for investors and other stakeholders' ability to learn and quickly understand new concepts outside your area of expertise
- Ability to think strategically, but also identify, develop, and implement practical solutions
- Strong technical, quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to solve new problems
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to network effectively within large organizations and build relationships with colleagues and clients
- Ability to lead new business development by highlighting potential opportunities for new engagements and responding to tenders
Your background
You have a background in or experience with:
- Advising (C-level) clients on insights and strategies related to long-term value and/or corporate strategies in general
- Advising (C-level) clients on insights and strategies related to sustainability, including climate change risk, (climate) impact measurement and management, EHS risk and compliance, and responsible investment
- Strong Experience in Environmental Management and Engineering
- Proven track record in ESG strategy and non-financial reporting frameworks
- Exposure to financial and non-financial reporting and/or regulatory reporting
- Knowledge of the CSRD (Corporate Social Responsibility Directive) and the EU taxonomy
- Exposure to finance functions at corporate institutions – e.g. strategy, policy, procedures, and controls – or an understanding of the policies, procedures, and controls needed to support non-financial reporting
- Working and effectively communicating with team members with different technical backgrounds
- Development of other team members by sharing knowledge, delegating work, and (in)formal coaching and counseling
- Degree in a relevant discipline, for example, engineering, sustainable development, environmental science, chemistry or finance and economics: relevant professional qualifications are an advantage
- Understanding of key sustainability issues and trends and how they link to business value
- Prior consulting or high-impact industry experience is an advantage
- Full working proficiency in Dutch (must have), French, and English (must have).
