The Opportunity
Many management teams struggle to sustain good control over cash flows and the working capital that drives them, leaving the business vulnerable to market and operational change.
EY’s cash and working capital team supports businesses in improving the effectiveness of their processes and commercial arrangements in order to free cash that is tied up on the balance sheet. Focusing on sustainable change underpinned by Cash Forecasting and Reporting, they deliver value through measurable improvement. The team have experience supporting the complete spectrum of listed and privately owned companies across multiple sectors or geographies, whether a successful business seeking to enhance shareholder value, or an organisation experiencing a cash crisis.
The team is one of the market leading advisers in this space and part of the world’s largest specialist cash and working capital advisory practice.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Working Capital, Turnaround and Restructuring Executive, you'll be at the heart of the technical delivery on client and internal projects.
As part of a delivery team, you will personally execute on designated parts of engagement processes and lead teams or parts of teams on engagements, depending on the size of the engagement.
You'll actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships and make sure that delivered client work is of high quality. As part of this, you'll anticipate and identify risks and escalate issues, as appropriate.
As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create an inclusive culture and will coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Display a high level of commercial acumen, and an interest in developing a depth of knowledge around the key drivers of working capital performance and the potential opportunities that can be implemented to deliver sustainable performance improvement
- Interest in acquiring adjacent skills such as cash-flow forecasting, sales and operations planning, treasury, factoring and supply chain finance
- Experienced at interpreting information/ data, to solve problems and formulate views and conclusions
- Able to synthesise complex issues from initial hypothesis, and identify the data required to confirm hypothesis
- Able to present solutions, issues and findings in both a concise written and oral format.
- Demonstrate professionalism and confidence to deal with a range of stakeholder groups and management teams
- Maintain a “Growth Mindset”, with an openness to learning new skills, being open to work across a range of types of projects, and finding opportunities to expand personal horizons
- Eagerness to contribute to business development activities, and support on pursuit / proposal activities
- Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
- Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Restructuring professional
- Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills
To qualify for the role you must have
- Professional accountancy qualification (e.g ACA, ACCA etc)
- Demonstrable consulting experience on finance or operational performance, or equivalent industry experience in finance / operational roles
- Experience of investigative world – many of our strong performers have moved from other disciplines (Audit, Transaction Support, Forensic).
- The ability to build strong relationships across the firm and can actively participate in business development
- Appreciation of the risks inherent in advising businesses and their stakeholders.
- The ability to support business development activities, leveraging internal and external contacts to identify and pursue potential new client engagements
Ideally, you’ll also have
- European language skills (not essential)
- Experience of data visualisation tools e.g. PowerBi, Qlik, Tableau and Spotfire, and knowledge of coding languages (VBA, Python, SQL, DAX, M, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships at all levels
- People development experience and can effectively supervise, coach and mentor staff
- An ability to understand how to build your own network of contacts with work providers
