Senior Consultant / Manager Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy (Audit background)

Our TRS team is fully integrated both within our wider Strategy and Transactions practice and our firm as a whole, and our clients reap the benefits of this broad range of knowledge, skills and experience. We work on the basis of creating long-term relationships with our clients and our teams work closely with them to understand their short and long-term goals - being there at every stage to identify problems and recommend and implement solutions that deliver measurable results. The EY Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy (TRS) team is a cohesive team and advises both medium-sized and large companies and their stakeholders (e.g. shareholders, financiers or suppliers) on special situations. Our issues are at the interface of strategy, operations and finance. We guarantee a diverse job in a dynamic transaction-driven practice with many young ambitious colleagues. A "typical day" for a Senior Consultant/Manager within the EY Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy does not exist. What we can say is that your experience will be dynamic, engaging and fun.

The opportunity - What future are you building towards?

With your audit background, you will be part of the TRS team with a special focus on supporting the EY audit practice on the going concern assessment of EY audit clients, as part of their annual report audit.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop your skill set in advising both medium-sized and large companies and their stakeholders (e.g. shareholders, financiers or suppliers) in special situations, such as liquidity and profitability problems, restructuring, strategy and complex financing issues. You mostly do this by working with your team on location at the company, which means you also get to experience the dynamics of the company and the sector up close. In addition, you will frequently collaborate with other SaT disciplines in the areas of valuations, business modelling, sales guidance, real estate, strategy and operations. We are looking for colleagues to join us in Amsterdam as their home office.

Our team - Do great minds always think alike?

Within the Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy (TRS) department, we advise organizations when they face underperformance or financial problems. We provide financial and business strategies with a focus on restructuring the company to transform, create, preserve, and restore value. We work with organizations in industries such as private equity, energy, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, retail, FMCG, technology, media, and telecom.

Responsibilities – How can you make a lasting impact in a rapidly changing world?

  • Supporting the EY audit practice on the going concern assessment of EY audit clients.
  • Helping clients develop financial and operational strategies to improve liquidity, credit availability and shareholder return.
  • Dealing with competing priorities
  • Understanding how to manage resources
  • Communicating effectively

Job requirements – Where do you start if you want to change the world?

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience and a completed University degree in Accountancy (and completed or close to completing the “Register Accountant” degree)
  • Strong and verifiable experience and/or affinity with changes, transactions and restructuring
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with large data files and data visualisation tools
  • Good communication skills and fluent in Dutch and English languages, both verbally and in writing
  • Above average skills in PowerPoint and Excel
