The opportunity
An exciting opportunity to join EY’s dynamic and growing Government Incentives team. Our team is purpose-driven and focused on helping clients access a broad range of State and Federal government grants and incentives that support investment, innovation and growth, contributing to a better working world. We assist clients to identify and access funding, grants and Research & Development (R&D) Tax Incentives, acting as trusted advisers across innovation strategy, grant applications and R&D Tax Incentive claims.
As a Consultant, you will support clients to access R&D incentives and grants across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, food and agribusiness, information technology, biotech/pharmaceuticals and financial services. Our clients range from start-ups and entrepreneurs through to ASX-listed companies and multinationals.
This is a hybrid position based in Gadigal-Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your key responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of R&D Tax Incentive claims, including participating in scoping discussions with technical teams, identifying potentially eligible activities, drafting technical descriptions and analysing financial information.
- Support the preparation of grant applications and related technical documentation, with exposure to project development, commercialisation, innovation and strategic investment decisions.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists, lawyers, accountants and engineers focused on helping clients access government grants and R&D incentives to fund growth and investment.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality client outcomes across a diverse portfolio, while building your skills through coaching, mentoring and on-the-job learning in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and attributes for success
- Undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, which may include Law, Science, Engineering, Computer Science or IT.
- Prior experience in R&D tax, government incentives, grants or a related advisory environment will be highly regarded; we will also consider candidates with relevant industry experience and a strong interest in transitioning into this space.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to ask insightful questions, synthesise complex information and tailor messages to different audiences.
- Strong analytical capability, including the ability to work with financial information, Excel and technical material, and translate complex concepts into clear, concise written reports.
- Be passionate about technology, innovation and working with people, with a willingness to be curious and contribute to a strong teaming environment.
