Your key responsibilities
Technical Excellence
- EY India’s Telecom Regulatory Consulting team is looking to hire a Consultant / Senior Consultant with at least 2 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, ICT regulation, data privacy, digital policy, technology compliance or allied regulatory/consulting domains. The role will support client engagements involving regulatory operations, compliance management, licensing/authorisation advisory, regulatory monitoring, policy analysis and implementation support under applicable DoT/TRAI rules, regulations, licence conditions, directions, guidelines and authorisations. The ideal candidate should be able to read, interpret and analyse detailed regulatory frameworks, instruments and policy documents; convert them into practical client implications; and quickly learn basic telecom and digital infrastructure concepts relevant to the assignment. Key responsibilities
- Track and analyse regulatory developments from DoT, TRAI, MeitY, CERT-In, WPC, NCCS, IN-SPACe and other relevant authorities.
- Review telecom licences, authorisations, regulations, directions, consultation papers, recommendations, guidelines and policy documents to identify obligations, risks and business impact.
- Support clients in regulatory operations, obligation mapping, compliance calendars, evidence review, regulatory filings, internal reviews, audits and readiness assessments.
- Assist in licensing/authorisation assessments for telecom, ISP, NLD/ILD, IP-I, UL-VNO, M2M/IoT, satcom, cable landing station, cloud communications, data center and enterprise connectivity models.
- Prepare client-ready deliverables including regulatory notes, impact assessments, trackers, compliance matrices, presentations, issue papers and policy/consultation responses.
- Support DPDP/privacy, consent management, privacy-by-design, AI governance and emerging digital regulation assignments for telecom and digital infrastructure clients.
- Work with senior team members to understand basic technical architectures and map them to regulatory requirements, licence dependencies and compliance risks. Required qualifications and skills
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in telecom regulation, regulatory affairs, data privacy, technology compliance, public policy, legal/regulatory research, telecom operations or consulting.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, engineering, technology, public policy, economics, business, commerce or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- Strong ability to read complex regulatory text closely and identify applicability, obligations, timelines, exceptions, implications and risks.
- Good drafting, research, analytical and presentation skills with attention to detail and strong command over English.
- Working knowledge or strong curiosity to learn basic telecom concepts such as fixed/mobile networks, ISP/NLD/ILD services, SIP/VoIP, cloud communications, data centers, submarine cables, satcom, lawful interception and network security.
- High ownership, responsiveness, client-service mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment across multiple workstreams. Preferred candidate profile A strong candidate will be intellectually curious, comfortable with ambiguity, detail-oriented, and interested in the intersection of regulation, technology and business. The person should enjoy decoding regulatory instruments and policy documents, learning new telecom/digital concepts quickly, and preparing structured, practical and client-ready advice for regulated entities.
