Job Description: Resilience Manager- DB

Experience Range: 12-15 years | Role Level: Manager

ROLE SUMMARY

Lead enterprise database resilience and recovery programs across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role is responsible for assessing database recovery readiness, validating disaster recovery capabilities, strengthening cyber recovery preparedness, and driving database resilience improvements through structured assessments, testing, remediation planning, and stakeholder engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead database resilience assessments across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, cloud-native databases, and related infrastructure dependencies.
  • Design, review, and validate database recovery strategies, including recovery sequencing, dependency mapping, recovery tiering, replication, and high availability configurations.
  • Plan and execute database DR tests, cyber recovery simulations, failover/failback exercises, and evidence-based recovery validation activities.
  • Assess database backup and recovery architectures for immutability, replication, retention, air-gap/vaulting controls, RPO/RTO alignment, and restoration readiness.
  • Develop cyber recovery playbooks for ransomware and destructive cyber scenarios, including clean-room recovery, trusted restore points, and database integrity validation.
  • Identify resilience gaps, SPOFs, recovery risks, and operational weaknesses, and translate findings into remediation roadmaps and executive reporting.
  • Collaborate with cyber security, infrastructure, cloud, application, audit, and business teams to align database recovery capabilities with business priorities.

MUST HAVE SKILLS

  • Strong database administration experience across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud database platforms.
  • Expertise in database backup, recovery, replication, clustering, high availability, retention management, and restoration processes.
  • Familiarity with supporting infrastructure components including storage, virtualization, networking, identity services, and cloud platforms.
  • Practical DR knowledge covering failover/failback, workload recovery, recovery sequencing, dependency mapping, validation, and improvement planning.
  • Cyber recovery understanding covering ransomware impacts, clean recovery, database integrity validation, identity recovery, Zero Trust principles, and trusted restore capabilities.
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder management, technical documentation, delivery quality, and leadership communication skills.
  • Good understanding of on-premises, cloud, and hybrid hosting models, data center strategies, and database deployment architectures.

GOOD TO HAVE SKILLS

  • Exposure to AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, AIOps, observability, and telemetry-driven solutions supporting runbook generation, dependency analysis, recovery workflow automation, and resilience reporting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup platforms, storage technologies, and infrastructure resilience concepts supporting database recovery.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
  • Desirable certifications include one or more of the following: Oracle DBA, Microsoft Azure Database Administrator, AWS Database Specialty, Azure Solutions Architect
  • Experience in technology transformation, regulated environments, or large-scale database resilience and recovery programs.

PREFERRED PROFILE ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to independently lead workstreams, manage senior stakeholders, and mentor delivery teams.
  • Comfortable working across database, infrastructure, cloud, cyber security, risk, audit, operations, and business teams.
  • Outcome-focused mindset with emphasis on actionable recommendations, recovery assurance, and measurable resilience improvements.
