Job Description - Engagement Management Services (EMS) Team

The Tax Senior in EMS Team at EY is responsible for providing key operational support to the Tax practice which EY provides to its multinational clients.

 

EMS offers the ease of managing clients (also referred to as Engagements within EY) in the following manner: 

  • Providing Operations management support on complex regulatory affairs across multiple jurisdictions
  • Managing the end-to-end Engagement lifecycle management process and reporting standards
  • Providing project management support and controlling the cost of managing compliance across various regions/countries
  • Responsible for ensuring smooth delivery as per agreed SLA’s

Globally, tax and accounts preparation activities are conducted mostly in the local countries and hence require a wide network of EY professionals to work together to deliver to the client’s expectations. A central team of EMS members work with this global network of EY professionals to ensure clients’ compliance and reporting obligations across the globe are met on time. The EMS team manages the engagement together with the tax and accounting practices operating from local offices in Americas.

 

The Opportunity

The job holder will work on several client accounts/ engagements, focusing on delivering all service management aspects of multinational engagements.

       

  • Operational Excellence and Strategic Reporting
    • Client Engagement Management: Collaborate closely with a Manager team member to provide day-to-day engagement management support for clients.
    • Timely Information Support: Support Tax Engagement teams in the Americas by providing timely and accurate information regarding engagements.
    • Scope Transfer Management: Identify and transfer potential scope of work to EMS team
    • Engagement Process: Understand client requirements and ensure engagement processes meet requirements
    • Risk Mitigation: Conduct situational analysis and propose solutions for mitigating issues and risks in engagements.
    • Project Planning: Build project plan for delivery and set up engagement management tools
    • Deliverable Review and Coaching: Review engagement deliverables and coach staff members on best practices
    • Process Improvement: Identify pain areas in the processes and create enablers to overcome process issues
    • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and control activities leading up to fulfilment of compliance and reporting obligations of the of practice as per agreed SLA’s
    • Client Liaison: Act as the SPOC for the respective client teams and Second level escalations point of contact
    • Quality Assurance: Monitor Quality of the team members aligned to ensure quality expectations are met

 

  • Project Coordination and Control
    • Project Coordination and Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule interviews between the Client and EY interviewers, ensuring optimal timing and availability. 
    • Resource Management: Assign interviewers and drafters for each interview based on project requirements
    • Documentation Management: Collect and manage all necessary documentation related to the interview process, ensuring organization and compliance.
    • Engagement Transition Support: Help the manager in transition of engagements to GDS
    • Progress Tracking: Develop and maintain a tracking system for interview progress, providing regular updates to stakeholders on candidate status.
    • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in projects and implement best practices for efficiency.
    • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related inquiries, facilitating clear communication and management.
    • Status Reporting: Provide engagement status on a periodic basis highlighting risks and issues and achievements
    • Service Delivery Enhancement: Identify service delivery and process gaps which can be fixed to improve service delivery

 

  • Talent Development and Client Engagement 
    • Client Portfolio Management: Handle a portfolio of clients and a team of Tax Analysts & Advanced Analysts
    • Engagement Issue Monitoring: Monitor and flag engagement and people issue to local and engagement leadership
    • Single Point of Contact (SPOC): Act as the SPOC for the respective client teams and first level escalations point of contact
    • Effective Engagement Management: Work with Engagement Managers and Coordinators to ensure engagements are managed effectively and efficiently
    • Customer Satisfaction Oversight: Responsible for the voice of customer satisfaction scores of the portfolio by managing service delivery expectations of clients
    • Training Gap Identification: Identify training gaps for self and team and work with leadership to bridge gaps
    • Offshore Team Networking: Network with offshore teams to create and maintain good relationship 

 

Skills and attributes to qualify for the role

We are looking for candidates with the following: 

  • Organizational and Project Coordination Skills: Strong organization and project management capabilities
  • Analytical and Decision-Making Abilities: Good analytical, judgment, tact and decision-making ability along with critical thinking skills
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent written, oral and presentation communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: Ability to work in a multi-functional, multi-geographic team Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships across organization levels Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people and different cultures  
  • Financial Process Understanding: Solid understanding of backend financial processes within a corporate environment.
  • Methodology Expertise: Hands-on experience on Lean, Six Sigma, Agile or design thinking
  • Project Management Certification: PMP or similar project management certification is desirable
  • Data Analytics Proficiency: Proficiency with D&A tools like Advanced Excel, Power BI, Power Automate are desirable
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with VBA Macro is desirable 

 

Your Path to Success: Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: At least 4 years of working with major global corporation (Big 4, Finance shared services,etc.) with at least one year in project delivery or engagement/ account management
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably Finance, Commerce, Math,Computer Science, Engineering or Business Management 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational skills and structured thinking abilities
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible and willing to adjust responsibilities to align with developing business needs
  • Data Management Knowledge: Knowledgeable in finance processes and be able to deal with large volume of data
  • Certification: PMP or similar project management certification is desirable
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with D&A tools like Power BI, Power Automate is desirable, along with proficiency in VBA Macro.
