Manager – Global Trade/Customs & Sustainability (Geneva/Zurich/Basel/Bern)

The Indirect Tax Global Trade practice in Switzerland is part of a strong network of trade professionals across the world. You will work side by side with strategic consultants, tax experts, customs lawyers, accountants, data scientists and system professionals daily. You will obtain a wide range of experience in Customs and international trade within a variety of in diverse markets and industries.


Our Indirect Tax Global Trade practice helps multinational corporations address challenges and develop solutions with respect to Customs legislations, sustainability regulations, indirect tax aspects of business and tax operating models. We have a great opportunity in this practice for highly motivated, ambitious, and hard-working professional to join us as Manager or depending on experience as suitable for other positions, in our EY Switzerland offices (Geneva, Zurich, Basel or Bern). 

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Manage local and global engagements, including working with other service line (VAT, Transfer Pricing, Consulting, Sustainability and Green taxes) and other global EY member firms
  • Align customs regulations and different tax operating with the sustainability regulations especially where cross border good movement is involved (such as CBAM and EUDR)
  • Manage implementation of several different projects, meeting deadlines, prioritization, client management 
  • Provide technical advice on Customs topics such as classification, origin, valuation, and other customs procedures.
  • Lead and manage trade compliance review and audits
  • Developing work propositions, including business development initiatives
  • Trade automation and analytics project coordination and working with offshore EY Global Trade Center of Excellence 
  • Besides, you will supervise employees and participate in their training and professional development and contribute to the knowledge sharing within the Swiss and global firm
  • Achieving your professional ambitions within a young and energetic team and developing your technical skills as well as benefiting from continuous in-house training and a global experts’ network
  • Continuously increase the reputation and trust of the firm through your participation in seminars, presentations, and publications

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • A recognized diploma in Law and/or Economics, preferably obtained from an EU or Swiss University or equivalent foreign diploma. Certified Tax Expert recognition and additional qualification in customs or international trade laws are strong assets
  • A true interest in Global Trade, Customs, Indirect taxes and sustainability regulations; at least 4-5years’ experience in tax advisory/compliance
  • Excellent level of English is mandatory, German, French, Italian or other languages are additional assets
  • Good IT skills (proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint a necessity, understanding of data analytics principles, Power BI and other software is an advantage)
  • A humble, autonomous, organized, positive, sociable and flexible personality who favors teamwork
  • Endowed with an excellent interpersonal skill, you combine analysis and synthesis, rigor and method and possess a solid deadline management
  • Additional skills and interests in specific business areas as e.g., technology, business architecture, specific sector knowledge (e.g., Life Sciences, Consumer Products, Medical Devices), etc. are warmly welcomed
