The opportunity

 

As an organization jointly owned by the business and IT, the MST is a centralized and global organization which will provide operational support for the Mercury ERP solution and manage and support the Mercury user community. The MST plays an integral role in governance of the Mercury solution and the global template from both a business and IT perspective and will work closely with the business in enabling the benefit and value to be realized from the investment.

The MST Senior Data Systems Lead is responsible for overseeing the support, enhancements, new development, and innovation of data systems within the organization. This role involves managing a team of project managers, data technicians, developers, and database engineers to ensure the successful delivery of data projects and system enhancements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data management, strong leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive the organization's data initiatives forward. Some of the key responsibilities are highlighted below.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for Leadership and management, Data Systems oversight, Project management, Support and enhancements, Data governance and compliance, and stakeholder collaboration
  • Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including project managers, data technicians, developers, and database engineers.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for data systems and projects, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data-oriented systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and performance standards.
  • Manage data projects from inception to completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ensure data systems are secure, reliable, and scalable to support the organization's growth.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with data projects and system enhancements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data systems, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.
  • Implement system enhancements and upgrades to improve performance, security, and functionality.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure data systems adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide solutions that drive business value.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in data management, IT management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing data-oriented systems and projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and technologies, such as SQL, ETL processes, data warehousing, and business intelligence tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Suggested technical certification (Desired):

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification.
  • Relevant data management or technical certifications.

 

Supervision responsibilities:

The incumbent should meet regularly with the process manager and process SMEs to maintain alignment of purpose and direction. Due to the geographical dispersion, this role requires the ability to think quickly and make sound decisions without constant supervision

 

Certification Requirements:

  • Desired Project Management Practitioner (PMP or Prince 2certification) or equivalent experience
