The opportunity

 

EY Netherlands seeks a General Ledger employee. The GL team, part of Finance, responsible for accurate GL administration for EY Netherlands and its entities. Acting as a central financial point, the team maintains regular contact with both internal and external stakeholders, with an increasingly international scope due to EY’s globalization and process outsourcing.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Execute, manage, and monitor general ledger entry processes
  • Reconcile AP and AR entries; clear open items (goods received vs. invoices received) in a timely manner
  • Match bank receipts with invoices, resolve discrepancies between bank statements and sub-ledgers, and assist the GL team with open items
  • Oversee refunds, ensuring necessary evidence and approvals are collected, and share details with the AP department
  • Manage queries related to AP & AR reconciliations, GL, and fixed asset processes
  • Facilitate smooth settlement of Interfirm invoices (IFM) and Global Settlements (GSG) by providing insights into payment statuses
  • Address and resolve disputes on open IFM/GSG invoices across countries
  • Support month-end GL tasks, including preparing and posting journal entries to clear open items
  • Process and report on fixed assets
  • Address process challenges and exceptions
  • Ensure team adherence to efficiency and quality standards, workload distribution, and quality controls
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide ongoing updates and recommendations to improve procedures
  • Monitor backup processes, and manage team member handover planning and execution
  • Assist with managerial reporting and ad hoc requests
  • Maintain strong client relationships, serving as the point of contact for queries on AP & AR reconciliations and GL operations
  • Identify improvement projects and drive continuous process improvements

  • Strong background in accounting
  • Ability to prioritise activities and work diligently to meet tight deadlines.

To qualify for the role, you must have

 

  • Completed Financial Bachelor
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a similar environment
  • Excellent understanding of English language in both word and writing
  • Understanding of financial administrative processes
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • A good knowledge of and experience with SAP is preferred.
  • A proactive, motivated attitude with adaptable communication skills.
