Location: Wrocław/Katowice - 2 days in office / 3 days remote

The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Financial Services Technology Manager or Senior Manager with a strong background in large-scale financial services environments. The ideal candidate has successfully led complex Middle Office or Back Office transformation programs, possesses deep technical and architectural expertise, and is capable of driving end-to-end delivery across globally distributed teams. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical leadership, architectural decision-making, stakeholder management, and strong project execution capabilities.
Your key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight across complex enterprise systems, acting as Solution Architect for applications, integrations, and cloud‑native platforms.
- Lead modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy environments (e.g. Mainframe) to modern, scalable, secure, and resilient architectures aligned with enterprise standards.
- Drive large‑scale Middle Office and Back Office transformation initiatives within a financial services environment, ensuring high‑quality and timely delivery.
- Manage cross‑functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders, owning delivery planning, execution roadmaps, risks, and dependencies.
- Lead cloud strategy and implementation using Azure or AWS, promoting cloud‑native and hybrid solutions, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
- Provide technical oversight across key technologies such as Java application stacks, event‑driven architectures (Kafka), and legacy platforms where applicable.
- Apply strong domain knowledge in financial services operations (e.g. trade processing, settlements, reconciliations, reference data, risk).
- Act as a bridge between business and engineering, clearly communicating complex technical concepts and influencing strategic decisions through technical, domain, and business expertise.
Skills and attributes for success
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical management.
- Experience in a large financial services organization (banking, capital markets, asset management, or fintech).
- Proven track record of delivering complex transformation programs in Middle Office or Back Office functions.
- Strong technical foundation in:
- Java (Spring ecosystem preferred)
- Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies
- Cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
- Mainframe systems (preferred, not mandatory)
- Excellent project management abilities, with experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience modernizing legacy financial platforms and integrating with enterprise data systems.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture, API frameworks, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Certification in cloud (Azure/AWS), project management (PMP/Prince2), or architecture (TOGAF) is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in the German language is preferred
