Engagement Business Partner – Manager

Let us introduce you the job offer by EY GDS Poland – a member of the global integrated service delivery center network by EY.

The Engagement Business Partner (EBP) is a senior finance professional with comprehensive knowledge of systems, processes, and policies. In this internal role, the EBP acts as the Finance single point of contact, partnering closely with client‑serving engagement teams to enable the successful delivery of engagements across the full engagement lifecycle—from opportunity creation through to final record archiving.

The opportunity

As a senior Engagement Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely execution of engagement lifecycle activities, with oversight and support from the EBP Lead. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to manage financial, compliance, and quality aspects of engagements, contributing directly to profitable growth and high‑quality client service.

Key elements of the role include:

Acting as the Finance single point of contact for Engagement Partners and Managers, providing guidance across all aspects of the Opportunity Engagement Lifecycle (OEL).
Overseeing OEL task completion by delegating to Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery.
Proactively managing financial and quality‑related risks across your engagement portfolio and providing strategic advice to strengthen compliance and revenue stability.
Ensuring compliance with service line‑specific policies and parameters.
Supporting the annual external audit process.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of client opportunities and engagements, acting as the Finance single point of contact for senior Engagement Partners and key internal stakeholders (including audit, operations, and service line teams).
  • Lead, coach, and support the professional development and upskilling of other EBPs within the team.
  • Drive the development of innovative solutions and best practices to enhance Finance support for client‑serving teams.
  • Leverage strong leadership, team management, and organisational skills to deliver continuous improvement initiatives across the EBP team.
  • Oversee team resourcing, including tracking joiners, leavers, and movers, and ensuring appropriate coverage of Partner portfolios during absences.

Coordinate with client‑serving teams and CoEs to:

  • Apply service line‑specific OEL policies and guidelines across the engagement lifecycle.
  • Monitor and advise on risk assessment and compliance processes.
  • Advise on pricing models, engagement budgets, and financial implications of engagement structures.
  • Support and challenge Estimate‑to‑Complete (ETC) processes and related financial updates.
  • Support working capital activities across the portfolio.

  • Provide constructive challenge and best‑practice insights to optimise margin, pricing, and engagement structures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across Finance and non‑Finance stakeholders, escalating queries beyond remit to appropriate Finance specialists (e.g. PFAs).
  • Review work completed by CoEs for accuracy and take ownership of urgent OEL tasks when required.
  • Apply deep service line knowledge to provide insights and strategic thinking to senior stakeholders.
  • Upskill client‑serving teams on OEL best practices, standards, and tools.
  • Partner with CoE Managers to identify issues, trends, and upskilling needs.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in delivering OEL‑related training for CoEs.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to deliver at pace while maintaining high levels of accuracy in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Proactive engagement with senior stakeholders to anticipate needs and ensure timely OEL execution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted, high‑value relationships.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills, including the ability to challenge constructively at senior levels.
  • Excellent analytical and commercial acumen with strong attention to detail.
  • Ownership mindset with the ability to drive monthly activities and manage outcomes against deadlines and targets.
  • Proactive, solutions‑oriented approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to translate complex system and finance concepts into clear, business‑focused language.
  • Sound judgement, active listening skills, and appropriate escalation capability.
  • Proven leadership experience, including developing and mentoring others.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 3–5 years of experience in a client‑facing or finance‑related role within a professional services or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing senior stakeholders and delivering high‑impact client service.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in hybrid and fast‑paced environments.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • High adaptability and resilience.

What we look for

We are looking for highly motivated professionals who communicate confidently, establish credibility with senior client‑serving teams, and can effectively manage and develop more junior resources. You will be able to translate financial impacts into clear business insights and contribute positively to team culture by supporting the development of others.
