Senior Automation Lead
Job description
We are looking for a Senior Automation Lead to drive automation capability within our delivery team. The role requires strong technical leadership, hands‑on automation expertise, and the ability to define and enforce standards across multiple workstreams.
The Senior Automation Lead will oversee frameworks, mentor engineers, and ensure automation supports fast, reliable, and scalable delivery for both functional and regression testing.
Your scope of duties:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks across the programmes.
- Define coding standards, best practices, and governance for the automation team.
- Oversee automation strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with project delivery timelines.
- Provide hands‑on technical expertise in building and maintaining automated test suites.
- Collaborate with Test Managers, Developers, BAs, and Architects to ensure full integration of automation within SIT, UAT, and regression cycles.
- Review existing automation code and drive improvements in quality, structure, and maintainability.
- Mentor and support mid‑level and junior automation engineers.
- Ensure optimal test coverage, reporting, and continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) alignment.
- Identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency across testing processes.
- Support pre‑sales activities for consulting engagements, including contributions to RFIs and RFPs.
- Drive growth and sales by identifying new opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and actively contributing to the commercial success of the practice.
- Act as a key point of contact for Alliance partners, ensuring smooth collaboration, strong communication, and successful joint delivery across initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in test automation, including at least 2 years in a lead role.
- Strong hands‑on automation skills in tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
- Solid experience with programming languages used in automation (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, or C#).
- Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests into build processes.
- Practical experience running tests at scale using containerized execution and/or Kubernetes-based environments (e.g., runners in containers, ephemeral environments, test environment readiness).
- Proven ability to lead teams, enforce technical standards, and provide coaching.
- Excellent problem‑solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work in fast‑paced delivery environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Evaluate and adopt self-healing automation capabilities where appropriate.
- Strong communication skills and very good command of English.
