Forward Deployed Data and AI Business Analyst
Job description
Join our Applied AI Engineering team, which designs and develops solutions across the entire data and AI spectrum, from data processing and AI and machine learning workflows to agentic AI. You will work directly with our clients’ business teams to identify high-value opportunities, frame business problems and translate them into clearly defined solutions that our engineering teams can build. This is a role for someone who moves confidently between business, data and technology and knows how to turn ambiguous needs into focused, actionable problems.
EY.AI – in this role, you will work in an environment where AI agents are part of the team and everyday project delivery. You will use solutions tailored to specific business areas to analyse data, generate recommendations and design solutions. This will help you move more quickly from analysis to action and create a competitive advantage for our clients.
Your scope of duties
- Working directly with clients’ business teams to identify, frame and prioritise high-value data and AI opportunities.
- Gathering and documenting business requirements and mapping the related business processes and data.
- Defining success measures and the business value case, while ensuring that prototypes remain focused on genuine business needs.
- Acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and forward-deployed engineers by translating business needs into clear technical requirements.
- Conducting light, hands-on data analysis, including data profiling and creating simple views or visualisations to assess feasibility and potential value.
- Shaping and prioritising the prototype backlog in cooperation with the Tech Lead.
- Supporting build, pivot or stop decisions based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Preparing clear, de-risked requirements, process maps and data definitions for handover to Solution Engineering teams.
- Supporting stakeholder communication, solution demonstrations and early adoption.
- Applying industry knowledge, particularly in financial services, to ensure that solutions are grounded in business and regulatory realities.
Our requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and approximately four or more years of business analysis experience in technology, data or AI projects, or a master’s degree and approximately three years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in requirements elicitation, process mapping and translating business needs into technology delivery.
- The ability to work confidently with both business stakeholders and technical or data-focused teams.
- Strong problem-framing skills and the ability to turn vague or ambiguous needs into clearly defined, buildable problems.
- Data literacy and practical experience analysing and validating data using tools such as SQL, Excel and Power BI.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with both business and technical audiences.
- The ability to make progress in fast-moving environments, including situations where requirements are incomplete or ambiguous.
- A working understanding of data, AI and generative AI concepts, including the capabilities and limitations of these technologies.
- The ability to use AI safely and effectively in everyday work.
- Critical thinking, curiosity and openness to continuous development and new ways of working.
Ideally, you will also have
- Experience in financial services or another regulated industry, particularly in areas such as AML/KYC or financial processes.
- Awareness of relevant governance and regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and GDPR.
- Experience working on AI, machine learning, generative AI or data projects.
- Experience as an Agile Business Analyst or Product Owner.
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Jira and process-mapping solutions.
- A relevant business analysis, Agile or product management certification, such as CBAP.
- Previous consulting experience.
