Position Summary

This role is part of our 100-person Consulting team, located in our Warsaw office, focusing on business transformation within the downstream sector with a special emphasis on strategic planning and business model optimization. The primary function is to support domestic energy industry leading companies and selected international accounts by delivering high-quality consulting services within the CESA region, with a focus on driving strategic initiatives and optimizing business operations.

The Manager/Senior Manager will report to the Energy Hub leadership within the Consulting team and will be responsible for working on various petrochemical industry-related projects, executing strategic planning, understanding, and optimizing business operating models, and driving business transformation.

The selected candidate will contribute primarily as a member of a team that develops proposals, executes, delivers, and strategizes business consulting engagements. Projects encompass the full range of the petrochemical industry, including supply/demand market analysis, new project feasibility studies, market entry strategy, acquisition due diligence support, technical assessments, strategic planning, business model development, and operational efficiency enhancement, all conducted in collaboration.

This role requires an individual who can balance a detailed understanding of the petrochemical industry with a strategic perspective, applying this knowledge to drive innovative solutions and business transformation. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Independently support project delivery ensuring deliverables meet quality, budget, and timeline targets, exercise analytical creativity in problem-solving, demonstrating a high level of strategic understanding and business acumen.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives by leveraging deep understanding of the petrochemical industry to create and implement forward-thinking strategies, prioritize, and execute initiatives in alignment with business goals and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills and analytical creativity effectively communicating with various stakeholders, ensuring that deliverables are comprehensive, accurate, and accessible.
  • Understand and optimize business operating models displaying a solid understanding of the business fundamentals, financial metrics, and operational aspects unique to the petrochemical industry.
  • Develop written reports and presentations that meet professional service standards, clearly and effectively present project information, results, and conclusions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, expectation management, and presentation of results, handle any client issues with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Lead and support the evaluation of commercial and technology feasibility for various projects, utilize understanding of the industry's business models to make informed assessments.
  • Improve financial and techno-economic models by contributing to the maintenance and improvement of financial models including industry trends analysis.
  • Create compelling project proposals of varying sizes under the guidance of director/partner level staff by showcasing ability to plan, structure, and articulate business cases to win projects.
  • Beyond strategic and operational responsibilities, lead and develop team members by fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the team.

Education, experience, and requirements

  • Master’s degree required; BS in chemical engineering or advanced chemistry degree preferred. An MBA in Finance would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of chemical/petrochemical industry experience, preferably with European Super Majors or Majors Downstream operations (BP, Shell, ENI) or specialty petrochemical companies (BASF, Bayer).
  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting experience in the areas of supply chain, operational excellence, or technology implementation, ideally with Big4, Bain, BCG, Accenture, FTI Consulting Energy, Nexant, or similar firms.
  • Candidates with experience in manufacturing, technology, planning, and business analysis from engineering firms (e.g., Worley Parsons Group, Jacobs Engineering, Yokogawa, Jenkins & Davies Engineering) will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of the European chemical industry structure and dynamics, specifically refinery-petrochemical integration, and optimization principles.
  • Familiarity with chemical manufacturing and technology management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Professional Suite, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
