The Opportunity

 

Join our Business Development team and you will support and execute go-to-market business development strategies. As a business development professional, you'll work with account teams to build relationships with our clients, drive new business and build revenue growth.The Pursuits Strategy Manager is responsible for managing multiple aspects of business pursuits across Canada.

 

The incumbent leads the team in developing and implementing pursuit strategies aimed to produce specific results; oversees adherence to all steps of the proposal process and firm guidelines; provides coaching to the Pursuits Strategy team to effectively communicate information and ideas through various mediums aimed towards increasing audience engagement and facilitating information retention; and acts as the local and national champion of pursuits initiatives.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Consults with Client Executives and BD leadership to develop and implement pursuit materials that are designed to achieve specific results. Establishes course of action to ensure efficient and effective completion of team projects.
  • Provides ongoing proposal strategy and support.
  • Ensures that all steps of the pursuit proposal process are adhered to and that the content and end product are of the highest quality.
  • Develops top quality proposals, qualification documents, presentations and other meeting documents.
  • Assists Business Development Executives in the identification of pursuit opportunities through market research, account plan review and client meetings for those accounts that do not have an Account Coordinator.
  • Manages and supervises a team of professional pursuit strategists. Ensures that staff members receive training and development to develop their skills.
  • Develops and maintains metrics on team performance.
  • Builds relationships with industry and practice leaders.
  • Identifies opportunities to build strategic alliances with partners, business development executives, senior managers, practices and other areas to help achieve business goals.
  • Develops top quality proposals, qualification documents, presentations and other meeting documents.
  • Presents and shares knowledge gained from attendance at learning events and other means of remaining current with developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Works with international Pursuits Strategy leaders to identify and leverage best practices.
  • Develops and manages a quality control program for all deliverables.

  • Strong business acumen
  • Organized, detail-oriented and highly deadline-driven 
  • Strong project management skills, the ability to establish priorities, set and manage schedules, and coordinate multiple projects at one time
  • Strong leadership skills to manage, coach, develop and motivate direct reports
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization​
     

To qualify for the role you must have

  • 10 years of proposal writing experience with demonstrated strong 
  • 5 years directly managing, developing and training a team of pursuit strategists and proposal writers
  • Bachelor's degree required (major in Language, Communications, Marketing or Business); graduate degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and cloud-based technology
     

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience in professional services (e.g., accounting, management consulting, legal, architectural, engineering)
