Global Delivery Services refers to EY's worldwide network of service delivery centers. The GDS team plays an important role in EY’s strategy by ensuring effective support to EY’s growth agenda.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Security Consultant – Email Security, Data Access Governance to design, implement, and support enterprise data protection and compliance solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Microsoft Purview Data Security services, including secure email gateway, data access governance and preferably, data leakage prevention. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, compliance teams, and technical teams to protect sensitive information, reduce insider risks, and ensure regulatory compliance across the organization's data estate.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

Secure Email Gateway (Proofpoint, Microsoft)

  • Configuration Management: Setup and tuning of anti-spam, anti-phishing, and malware policies
  • Content filtering, DLP, and encryption configuration Identity integration (e.g., Azure AD, LDAP)
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor email traffic and threat statistics. Generate regular reports (spam, phishing, malware, top targets)
  • Policy Review & Optimization: Periodic tuning of SEG rules and threat policies. Maintain blocklists/allowlists. Update impersonation protection and VIP rules
  • Integration Activities: SIEM/SOAR integration for logs and alerts, Threat intelligence feed integration, Hybrid/coexistence mail routing support
  • User & Admin Support: Support for quarantine release, allow/block requests, Troubleshoot delivery issues, Phishing awareness collaboration
  • Platform Maintenance: Patch management and availability monitoring, License tracking and capacity planning, Vendor support coordination (Proofpoint, Microsoft)

Data Access Governance (Varonis)

  • Permissions Mapping: Map and analyse access rights, Detect over-permissive access
  • Activity Monitoring: Track user behaviour and file activity, Audit file access, changes, deletions
  • Access Governance: Support access reviews and least privilege enforcement, automate entitlement reviews, identify unused permissions

Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

  • Design, implement, and optimize Microsoft Purview DLP policies across Microsoft 365 services, endpoints, and supported third-party repositories.
  • Define detection logic using Sensitive Information Types (SITs), trainable classifiers, custom classifiers, and EDM.
  • Monitor DLP incidents and provide recommendations for policy tuning and risk reduction.
  • Support deployment of Endpoint DLP controls for data exfiltration prevention.

Consulting & Delivery

  • Conduct workshops, assessments, and requirement-gathering sessions.
  • Develop solution designs, implementation plans, and governance frameworks.
  • Support Proof of Concepts (PoCs), pilot deployments, and production rollouts.
  • Create technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and operational guidance for Purview solutions.
  • Stay current with Microsoft Purview roadmap, emerging data protection trends, and compliance requirements.

 

Skills and attributes for success

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Proofpoint Email SEG, Microsoft Exchange Online Protection, Varonis Data Access Governance
  • Expertise is good to have in:
    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Compliance Centre and Microsoft Purview Portal.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, ISO 27001, NIST, and data privacy requirements.
  • Knowledge of cloud security and Microsoft 365 architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in data protection, information security, compliance, or Microsoft 365 security technologies.
  • Relevant certifications preferred:
    • Proofpoint Certified Email Security Specialist
    • Varonis Data Access Governance
    • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100) (Desirable)
