The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing team within EY. Part of the GDS GCO Enablement team in India, the counsel will work with legal/Global General Counsel’s Office (GCO) attorneys, and support EY’s business on client and vendor contracts. You will provide legal support to the business and become a trusted adviser of stakeholders (often at senior leadership level). You will be expected to assess and understand how risks can be best managed and mitigated.

 

Your responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiation, finalisation and advisory on client agreements (including statements of work, service agreement and terms & conditions), NDAs, issue lists, bids and proposals, IOMs, subcontractor agreement and other additional documentation related to client issues including risk mitigation/elevation process
  • Managing EY internal risks related to business operations for independence, conflicts, service permissibility, managing third party relations and collaborations
  • Act as point of contact for EY’s business teams and support the UK legal team
  • Have a good understanding of key business risks that need to be managed in respect of EY’s specific risk management framework
  • Coordinating with internal specialist functions including Independence, onshore Legal teams, Security, Privacy and Risk Management and managing internal risk process
  • Maintaining an understanding of the impact of changes in EY policies, organizational structure, and procedures.
  • Assisting in special projects related to various risk management and engagement lifecycle processes enabling business teams to proactively address day-to-day queries and maintaining updates in global compliance tools.

  • Ability to team effectively with onshore legal team and colleagues in other functions;
  • Ability to grasp, understand, and accurately articulate and document the transactions;
  • Ability to assess size, scope and overall risk of contemplated transactions and to tailor contracts accordingly;
  • Highly responsive with ability to manage high workload volumes efficiently and effectively;
  • Solution oriented with focus on exceptional client service and keen attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and English language (verbal and written) skills;
  • Confidence, maturity and high degree of awareness to be able to work effectively with a broad base of senior-level internal stakeholders;
  • Strong service-oriented personality, proficient at delivering the highest quality of work within deadlines.

 

Experience and qualifications

  • Law Graduate/LL.B, with 3-5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in contract review, drafting and negotiation experience;
  • Understanding of compliance related concepts such as independence, conflicts etc.
