Financial Restructuring Manager – MENA

The opportunity 

At the Financial restructuring team, we specialize in distressed M&A, value creation, financial restructuring, raising capital, capital structure advisory, and stakeholder management. We support businesses through periods of pressure or fundamental transformation. Our integrated team delivers tailored, pragmatic solutions, built on world-class strategic, operational, and financial insights. We aim to create long-term relationships with our clients and our teams work closely with them to understand their short and long-term goals - being there at every stage to identify problems, recommend, and implement solutions that deliver measurable results

 

Your key responsibilities 

As Manager in Financial Restructuring team, you will:

  • Work in a professional environment alongside a vibrant and exciting team of experienced professionals on a variety of projects across a wide range of sectors.
  • Contribute as a vital member of the team in executing financial restructuring and capital and debt advisory projects.
  • You’ll be focused on understanding the client’s business, profit drivers and trends, help clients mitigate risks and improve deal structures.
  • Assist and lead in business development activities including preparing presentations for client and internal pursuit meetings
  • Create work products documenting the engagement procedures performed against objectives
  • Building Relationships - Strong working relationships with clients, including influence, advice and support to key decision makers 
  • Being responsible for acting as a mentor / counsellor for the team (Assistant Manager through Associate Manager level) and responsible for their career growth within the firm
  • Learn and develop technical and personal skills to support achievement of career goals, through a blend of structured learning, coaching and experiences. 
  • You will also help to create a positive learning culture for junior team members and support their development
  • Support in development of new solutions / service offerings relevant for financial restructuring, and capital and debt advisory engagements

  • Strategic mindset – you will help clients identifying source of value creation and quantifying it. You will need to have a solution-oriented mind-set to act as a truly Corporate Finance advisor to leverage on EY capabilities and assist clients in solving their issues and unlocking potential for value growth
  • Commercial Acumen – as part of the team you will regularly advise businesses on financial restructuring, and capital and debt financing / refinancing transactions

To qualify for the role, you must have 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; Masters preferred
  • CA / CFA preferred or MBA (preferably from a premier institute) with a good academic background
  • 8-10 years of related work experience to restructuring, capital and debt advisory (e.g. corporate or investment banking, funding advisory, fundraising, capital structure optimization etc) and/or debt restructuring 
  • Strong numerical aptitude, with evidence of financial modeling skills and proficiency in detailed financial analysis.
  • Proficient in MS Powerpoint with experience in developing high quality presentations and reports
  • Prior Experience in report writing (across capital structure review, financial analysis (including historical and forecast reviews), capital structure review, restructuring options analysis, working capital analysis etc.) 
  • Experience with conducting desktop market research, gathering data, deriving meaningful conclusions
  • Experience with performing benchmarking reviews (across various parameters for capital and debt mix, working capital levers, revenue / product analysis etc.)
  • Strong finance and accounting skills with knowledge of capital markets.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English language.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment.
  • Ability to successfully manage engagements including the work of team members, client interaction, quality of service

 

Ideally, you’ll also have 

  • Knowledge of Islamic Finance.
  • Client facing experience from a professional services background.
  • Knowledge of the MENA region and funding environment.
  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) could be a bonus
