EY GDS – Data and Analytics (D&A) – Data Governance Manager – Collibra
As part of our EY-GDS D&A (Data and Analytics) team, we help our clients solve complex business challenges with the help of data and technology. We dive deep into data to extract the greatest value and discover opportunities in key business and functions like Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Manufacturing and Auto, Supply Chain, and Finance.
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Manager (Collibra) to lead enterprise-wide governance initiatives, metadata strategy, data quality programs, and privacy alignment across business domains.
This role requires a leader who can architect governance solutions, manage teams, drive platform adoption, and guide the enterprise toward a mature, scalable data governance operating model.
As the Collibra Governance Manager, you will serve as the strategic owner of the Collibra platform and related governance processes, collaborating with senior stakeholders, business leaders, architects, privacy officers, and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Governance Strategy, Architecture & Operating Model
- Architect and evolve enterprise-wide Data Governance frameworks, including metadata strategy, stewardship models, and governance workflows.
- Design and implement Collibra architecture, including Operating Model design, Metamodel extensions, domain structures, and reusable governance patterns.
- Define long-term governance roadmaps, maturity models, adoption strategies, and platform scaling approaches.
- Evaluate new governance capabilities, integrations, and automation opportunities across the ecosystem.
- Collibra Platform Ownership & Solution Design
- Act as the Product Owner/Platform Owner for Collibra, overseeing roadmap planning, feature enhancements, and cross-domain enablement.
- Lead architecture and design of workflows, lineage models, asset types, communities, roles, and custom configurations.
- Govern metadata ingestion patterns, API integrations, lineage automation, and catalog expansion.
- Establish platform standards, best practices, reusable components, and governance templates.
- Data Quality & Privacy Program Leadership
- Lead enterprise Data Quality strategies including CDE frameworks, rule definitions, monitoring structures, and DQ dashboards.
- Manage RCA processes for recurring DQ issues, sponsor remediation strategies, and drive cross-functional resolution.
- Oversee integration of privacy metadata, PII tagging, policy definitions, and compliance alignment using tools such as BigID or equivalent.
- Partner with Security and Privacy teams to ensure FGAC alignment, data classification adherence, and controlled data access policies.
- Stakeholder Management, Governance Councils & Delivery Leadership
- Lead governance working groups, steering committees, data councils, and stakeholder forums.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across business, risk, compliance, and IT to define policies, roles, stewardship responsibilities, and prioritization.
- Translate executive goals into actionable governance programs and delivery roadmaps.
- Communicate platform performance, adoption metrics, risks, and compliance posture to leadership.
- Team Leadership, Coaching & Governance Operations
- Manage and mentor a team of Data Stewards, Governance Analysts, Collibra Developers, and SMEs.
- Establish governance processes, SLAs, onboarding materials, and operational playbooks.
- Promote continuous improvement, knowledge-sharing, training programs, and capability building across business units.
- Support POCs, platform upgrades, new domain rollouts, and transformation initiatives.
Skills Required
- Deep hands-on expertise with Collibra, including Operating Model design, Metamodels, workflows, lineage, integrations, and platform administration.
- Strong architectural understanding of metadata management, governance frameworks, lineage design, data ownership models, and cataloging principles.
- Experience leading Data Quality, Data Privacy, and Access Governance programs.
- Proven ability to design governance strategies, frameworks, and cross-functional governance models.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills (business + technical).
- Ability to drive governance adoption through structured delivery, change management, and training programs.
- Familiarity with related tools (BigID, TrustLogix, IAM platforms, DQ tools) is beneficial.
- Proficiency working in Agile delivery models, using Jira/Confluence/ADO.
Qualifications for the Role
- 9+ years of total experience, with significant experience in Data Governance, Metadata, Privacy, and Data Quality.
- Multiple Collibra Certifications, such as:
- Collibra Ranger
- Collibra Data Steward
- Collibra Workflow Engineer
- Collibra Solution Architect
- Collibra Integration Engineer
- Demonstrated experience leading governance programs, councils, and multi domain enablement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of enterprise governance standards, compliance requirements, and data policies.
- Experience managing teams, driving transformation, and influencing senior leadership.
