EY GDS – Data and Analytics (D&A) – Business Analyst – Insurance Domain- Senior
As part of our EY-GDS D&A (Data and Analytics) team, we help our clients solve complex business challenges with the help of data and technology. We dive deep into data to extract the greatest value and discover opportunities in key business and functions like Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Manufacturing and Auto, Supply Chain, and Finance.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst & Project Manager to lead and support end to end transformation initiatives across Insurance data, claims, policy, and core platform modernisation programs.
This role is ideal for someone who can blend business analysis depth with project delivery leadership, playing a key role in discovery, requirements analysis, data migration, regulatory alignment, and cross-functional execution.
You will work closely with SMEs, architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders across Claims, Policy, Underwriting, Customer, and Finance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Business Analysis
- Engage SMEs across claims, policy, underwriting, customer, and finance teams to gather functional requirements and business rules.
- Conduct detailed data discovery, profiling, and gap analysis to ensure data completeness and quality.
- Validate source to target mappings between legacy systems and modern data platforms.
- Translate business needs into detailed specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Data Migration & Target State Definition
- Support Solution Architects in defining target-state data architecture, domain models, and transition roadmaps.
- Work with data teams to confirm data mapping accuracy, remediation rules, and reconciliation logic.
- Ensure downstream systems (claims engines, analytics platforms, finance systems) receive quality assured data during migration.
Project & Delivery Management
- Lead end to end delivery across Discovery → Design → Build → Test → Deploy → Post Go Live phases.
- Build and maintain project plans, RAID logs, tracking dashboards, and executive reports.
- Manage cross functional coordination across data engineering, QA, SMEs, business users, vendor teams, and architecture groups.
- Drive delivery of milestones, manage dependencies, and maintain strong governance practices.
Testing, Validation & Deployment Support
- Collaborate with QA and business teams to create test plans, test cases, and data validation rules.
- Support UAT cycles, migration rehearsals, cutover planning, and production verification.
- Ensure data accuracy through reconciliation frameworks and validation checkpoints.
Regulatory, Audit & Compliance Alignment
Ensure traceability across migration stages for audit readiness, historic data integrity, and insurance regulatory compliance.
Support reporting, lineage documentation, and audit trails for all migrated data elements.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Facilitate workshops, stand-ups, requirement walkthroughs, and progress reviews.
- Communicate risks, issues, and dependencies proactively with clear mitigation actions.
Data Platform & Governance Support
- Contribute to definition of ingestion, transformation, and consumption patterns for modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure).
- Document data flows, metadata, lineage, and governance requirements.
- Support adoption of reusable data ingestion and transformation frameworks.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of Insurance domain — Claims, Policy, Underwriting, Finance, Customer.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis, data mapping, profiling, and reconciliation.
- Experience delivering data migration or core insurance system transformation programs.
- Understanding of cloud data platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, etc.
- Strong project management, planning, and risk-management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to write clear specifications, user stories, test cases, and functional documents.
- Proficiency in Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, MS Project or equivalent tools.
Qualifications for the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business, Finance, or related field.
- 6+ years of combined experience in Business Analysis and Project/Program Management.
- Prior experience in Insurance, Data Migration, or Core Platform Transformation is highly desirable.
