EY GDS – Data and Analytics (D&A) – Data Governance Specialist – Collibra - Senior
As part of our EY-GDS D&A (Data and Analytics) team, we help our clients solve complex business challenges with the help of data and technology. We dive deep into data to extract the greatest value and discover opportunities in key business and functions like Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Manufacturing and Auto, Supply Chain, and Finance.
The opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist with strong expertise in Collibra to support enterprise-wide governance, metadata management, and compliance initiatives.
This role focuses on implementing Collibra capabilities, enabling trusted data assets, improving metadata visibility, and supporting key governance programs such as Data Quality, Privacy, and Access Governance. The specialist will work closely with Data Stewards, Architects, Compliance Teams, and Business Stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collibra Platform Administration & Governance Enablement
- Design, configure, and enhance Collibra Operating Models, Metamodels, Domains, Communities, and Asset Types.
- Build and maintain workflows, lineage models, and catalog structures.
- Configure Collibra for new use cases including stewardship, data access processes, glossary management, and certification flows.
- Troubleshoot platform issues and support governance teams across multiple business units.
- Metadata, Cataloging & Lineage
- Maintain and expand metadata coverage across systems by building Business Glossaries, Data Dictionaries, and Technical Metadata mappings.
- Enable end‑to‑end data lineage, coordinate ingestion pipelines, and validate lineage accuracy.
- Ensure metadata standards, business definitions, and ownership models are consistently applied.
- Data Quality & Issue Management Support
- Support development of Data Quality rules, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), thresholds, and monitoring logic in collaboration with business and technical teams.
- Assist with Data Quality issue logging, RCA, and workflow-driven resolution through Collibra DQ or integrated tools.
- Promote standardized issue templates, prioritization models, and reporting dashboards.
- Data Privacy & Access Governance Coordination
- Partner with Data Privacy teams to ensure proper classification (including PII/PHI) reflected in Collibra assets.
- Work with security teams to align Collibra metadata with Fine-Grained Access Control (FGAC) policies when integrated with tools like TrustLogix, BigID, or IAM platforms.
- Ensure ownership, access roles, and approvals are documented and traceable.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Governance Operations

- Act as a liaison between business data owners, stewards, SMEs, and IT teams.
- Conduct governance workshops, requirements sessions, and solution walkthroughs.
- Promote adoption of governance practices, provide user training, and prepare knowledge documentation.
- Support governance councils with metadata insights, dashboards, and compliance reporting.
Skills Required
- Strong hands‑on experience with Collibra (Ranger-level proficiency) across Operating Models, Workflows, Catalog, Lineage, and Integrations.
- Solid understanding of Data Governance frameworks, metadata management, stewardship, and ownership models.
- Experience with Data Quality concepts (profiling, rules, CDEs, validation, issue tracking).
- Familiarity with Data Privacy concepts (PII classification, retention policies, sensitivity levels).
- Experience with access governance concepts such as FGAC, data access workflows, or policy enforcement tooling.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into governance solutions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working in Agile environments with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
Qualifications for the Role
- 5–7 years of total experience, with significant experience in Data Governance, preferably in enterprise environments.
- Multiple Collibra Certifications, such as:
- Collibra Ranger
- Collibra Data Steward
- Collibra Workflow Engineer
- Collibra Solution Architect
- Collibra Integration Engineer
- Experience working with governance tools such as Collibra, BigID, and TrustLogix is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of metadata management, governance processes, and compliance requirements.
