The opportunity

We’re looking for an Azure Support Engineer with 3.5 to 7 years of experience who can:

• You will be responsible for implementing, managing, and troubleshooting Azure services and infrastructures, ensuring their optimal performance and alignment with business needs.
• You will be responsible for promptly troubleshooting Azure-related issues, providing timely and efficient solutions.

Your key responsibilities

• Implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting Microsoft Azure solutions, which include major services related to compute, storage, network, and security.
• Setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth deployment processes and top-quality software outputs.
• Managing Azure resources, including virtual machines, App services, and Azure SQL databases.
• Working on Azure development and designing the infrastructure integrating CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensuring the security of the system through the management of access controls, network firewalls, encryption, and similar systems.
• Overseeing the execution of disaster recovery and failover strategies, ensuring system robustness and data security.
• Monitoring and managing application performance, identifying and tuning areas necessary to maintain optimal system efficiency.
• Addressing and resolving complex problems, leveraging high-level network and system infrastructure knowledge.
• Communicating effectively with clients and establishing strategic relationships.
• Developing scripts for automating client/server functions to improve current processes and workflows.
• Partaking in decisions for future Azure implementations and improvements, providing expert advice based on current trends and the company's needs.
• Keeping abreast of all updates and changes in Azure services and products, ensuring the organization makes effective use of new features and improvements.
• Providing technical guidance and support to the team and clients in Azure-related matters.
• Participating actively in security planning and strategy, adhering strictly to compliance regulations and best practices.
• Implementing server hardening based on company’s security protocols; carrying out regular security audits to prevent possible vulnerabilities

• Ability to travel in accordance with client and other job requirements
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; writing, publishing and conference-level presentation skills a plus.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science
• Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer related certifications

Ideally, you’ll also have

Azure Solution Architect Expert, Axure Security Engineer certifications.

Technologies and Tools

• Microsoft Azure: A comprehensive understanding of Azure services, including Azure Storage, Azure Compute, Azure Networking, and Azure Active Directory, among others.
• CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab is often required.
• Automation Tools: Knowledge of automation tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform can be beneficial in creating scalable and manageable infrastructures.
• Monitoring Tools: Proficiency in Azure monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights is useful for maintaining system performance.
• Networking and Security: Understanding of network configurations, VPN/Gateways, Firewalls, and security protocols like OAuth and SSO. Knowledge of security tools such as Azure Security Center is beneficial
• Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes is often desired.
• Databases: Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and Azure's Database Services like Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, etc.
• Cloud Migration Tools: Understanding of Azure migration tools like Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, and Azure Database Migration Service is often necessary.
• Scripting: Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python is usually required for automation and routine tasks.
• Other Azure Tools: Familiarity with other Azure tools and services like ARM templates, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, etc. can be beneficial.

What we look for

• Monitoring and alerting: Closely monitor for anomalies and threats.
• Incident and Problem Triage: Assessment of defects to identify and map to the right queue (Platform / Info security / Application / Infrastructure)
• Incident Management: Monitor the Service management queue, ensure incidents are being updated and the customers are being communicated to.
• Change and Release Management: Co-ordination of release management, including managing agreed components of Runsheet’s and change control documentation
• Patch management, Problem Management: Root cause analysis to identify underlying issues
• System and Security Maintenance: Perform system and security level maintenance activities.
• Documentation: All root-cause findings from incident or problem managed need to be documented as a repeatable process for future support.
