The opportunity
As a US Tax Senior Manager in our U.S. Tax Practice, you will lead large and complex engagements, serving as a trusted advisor to multinational clients across public and private sectors. Building on deep technical knowledge, you’ll drive high-quality U.S. compliance delivery and provide practical, innovative tax advice across U.S. federal and state matters, as well as cross-border considerations.
In this role, you will be accountable for engagement strategy, technical leadership, risk and quality, and team development. You’ll cultivate strong client relationships, identify and advance opportunities, and contribute to the growth of EY’s U.S. Tax practice in Canada through thought leadership, coaching, and participation in national initiatives.

Your key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee multiple complex U.S. tax compliance engagements end-to-end, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and timely delivery
- Serve as a primary client contact and build trusted relationships with tax leaders and key stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership on U.S. corporate and partnership taxation matters, including federal and state considerations
- Guide cross-border tax issue spotting and collaborate with global teams as needed
- Review and sign off on key deliverables i.e. returns, workpapers, technical memoranda and drive risk and quality management across engagements
- Coach, mentor, and develop Managers and staff to build high-performing teams and create a strong teaming culture
- Lead engagement economics i.e. scope, budgeting, resourcing, and proactively manage risks, deadlines, and priorities
- Support business development through proposals, pursuits, account planning, and relationship expansion
- Contribute to national initiatives e.g., recruiting, learning and tax technology adoption

- Proven ability to build and sustain senior client relationships and translate technical work into practical business outcomes
- Strong commercial mindset and interest in growth, market development, and account expansion
- Deep technical knowledge in U.S. corporate and partnership taxation and the ability to resolve complex issues with sound judgment
- Ability to synthesize technical guidance into clear recommendations, supported by strong writing skills
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver across multiple engagements and deadlines
- Strong focus on quality, risk management, and consistent delivery excellence
To qualify for the role, you must have
- An undergraduate degree in a related field
- Significant progressive U.S. tax experience, typically 8 or more years, with a strong foundation in U.S. corporate federal and state income tax compliance, and or partnership compliance, including review leadership and issue resolution
- A US CPA designation
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing engagement economics, and delivering through others
- Strong technical research capability, experience drafting and reviewing technical memoranda and client-ready communications

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.
- Toronto: $128,000 to $178,000
- Waterloo, London: $121,500 to $171,500
