The opportunity


As a Senior Tax Staff – US tax, you will be a part of the International Tax and Transaction Services Practice.  We help our clients identify and meet their US tax compliance obligations and navigate cross border taxation issues. Your key responsibilities

 

Senior Tax Staff in our U.S. Tax practice participate in and supervise multiple and challenging tax engagements and to contribute to the delivery of compliance services and innovative tax planning ideas for our diverse clients.

 

Core elements of the role include

  • Apply a strong understanding of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax to support tax compliance and reporting engagements
  • Prepare and review U.S. corporate and partnership tax returns for multinational clients
  • Prepare and review U.S. income tax provisions for public and private companies
  • Research U.S. federal and state tax issues, including cross border matters, and draft clear, practical technical memoranda
  • Develop thoughtful, practical tax planning recommendations and implementation approaches
  • Exercise sound professional judgement in complex and technical areas
  • Build and maintain strong, long term relationships with clients
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client service and support additional tax planning initiatives
  • Leverage technology to improve efficiency, accuracy and quality of work
  • Participating in national initiatives.
  • Encouraging communication and effectively supervising team members.
  • Participating in recruiting efforts when necessary.
  • Contributing to a flexible, stable and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in US Tax
  • Completion of the US CPA designation and or US Enrolled Agent certification or active pursuit of either credential
  • Excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership abilities
  • A commitment to learning in a tax technology environment
  • Strong project management, organizational skills and the ability to deliver quality work within tight deadlines
  • A process-oriented approach to work and excellent documentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional services environment
  • A high level of motivation and drive along with maturity and a proactive, team-based working style

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.

  • Toronto: $68,000 to $102,000
