The opportunity


As a Tax Staff, US R&D IT Specialist, you will be a part of our Business Tax Services (BTS) practice within the Quantitative Services Group.  If you want to be exposed to exciting research and development initiatives in IT, software, and telecommunications, this role is for you. 


Your key responsibilities

As a Tax Staff, you will discuss new IT programs, technology prototypes, innovative software architectures, improved algorithms, and new frameworks with leaders in the industry.  As an experienced developer, you will leverage your thorough understanding of development technologies and software architectures to understand clients’ IT goals and highlight the innovation within.  You will be working with a variety of clients at the forefront of technology, from entrepreneurs to public corporations, to evaluate and help prepare their research credit claims.


Skills and attributes for success

  • Meet with clients and leverage your broad knowledge of current technologies to identify opportunities for claiming innovation in fields such as software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, wireless networks, data analytics, defense, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Prepare detailed project descriptions of clients’ R&D activities.
  • Assist clients in reviews with the tax authorities 
  • Manage client expectations and adhere to deadlines

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of development technologies, cloud computing, programming languages, and telecommunication technologies.
  • Creative thinking and technical writing abilities that enable you to effectively identify and describe the innovation within clients’ technology development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to handle pressure effectively and meet strict deadlines.
  • Propensity for exceptional client service.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience with the US research credit program.
  • An MBA.
