EY Canada is seeking an experienced Technical Architect to join our growing Microsoft Dynamics 365 team. Our Microsoft solutions group extends from advisory and planning, design and architecture, implementation, training, business adoption. With our extensive network of industry experts working across four service lines, EY is uniquely positioned as a leader in helping our clients capitalize on increasing customer and data-centric digital transformation strategies.


The Role & Responsibilities


EY Canada is seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Technical Architect (ERP Solutions) to play a key role in delivering complex ERP projects for large enterprise clients. This expert will be at the forefront of architecting, developing, and deploying robust Dynamics 365 ERP solutions.


Client Engagement and Technical Analysis:

  • Conduct deep technical discovery sessions to understand the client's ERP landscape and technical requirements.
  • Lead the design and architecture of Dynamics 365 ERP solutions, ensuring they align with client's business goals and IT strategies.
  • Translate business processes into technical solutions within the Dynamics 365 framework.

Technical Strategy and Architectural Design:

  • Develop technical strategies that support large-scale ERP transformations.
  • Architect solutions that leverage the full capabilities of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform to modernize and enhance enterprise operations.
  • Provide technical leadership on the capabilities and integration patterns of Dynamics 365 ERP solutions.

System Configuration and Integration:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of system integrations, data migrations, and customizations for Dynamics 365 ERP solutions.
  • Collaborate with developers and infrastructure specialists to ensure the technical viability and performance of solutions.
  • Ensure technical solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure in compliance with enterprise standards.

Project Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical governance across ERP implementation projects.
  • Support project managers in technical planning, resource allocation, and risk identification.
  • Offer technical oversight and direction throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance and Performance Tuning:

  • Supervise the technical testing of ERP solutions to ensure performance and scalability.
  • Coordinate with testing teams to develop comprehensive test plans and performance benchmarks.
  • Address technical issues and performance bottlenecks with effective solutions.

Training and Technical Support:

  • Develop technical documentation, guides, and training materials for Dynamics 365 ERP solutions.
  • Provide technical training and support to ensure effective use and maintenance of the system post-deployment.

Deployment and Technical Transition:

  • Lead the technical aspects of solution deployment, ensuring successful migration to the Dynamics 365 ERP system.
  • Oversee the transition from legacy systems, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.

Continuous Technical Improvement:

  • Stay informed on the latest technical developments in Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.
  • Recommend technical upgrades and enhancements to keep the ERP solution at the forefront of efficiency and innovation.

Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration:

  • Work closely with solution architects, business analysts, and domain experts to deliver a cohesive ERP solution.
  • Ensure clear communication of technical concepts and requirements to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Experience and Skills:


Experience in Consulting and Technical Architecture:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a consulting environment, with a strong emphasis on ERP solution delivery, particularly in supply chain management.
  • A proven ability to lead Dynamics 365 Finance, SCM, and Commerce projects from concept to completion, with a focus on technical challenges and innovations.
  • Experience with modern coding practices, application architectures, and performance testing within large-scale ERP implementations.


Microsoft Certifications:

  • Must hold the following certifications: Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate and Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert.
  • A dedication to continuous learning and maintaining currency in the latest Microsoft Dynamics 365 technologies and certifications.


Language and Communication Skills:

  • Fluent in English with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a record of effective client engagements and managing stakeholder relationships.


Analytical Skills:

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to dissect complex technical problems and create strategic solutions.
  • Proficiency in business process modeling and a thorough understanding of ERP data and integration platforms.


Technical Proficiency:

  • Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including Azure, and experience in managing cloud-based ERP solutions.
  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code application development and the ability to leverage these approaches to optimize solution delivery.
  • Proficient with Azure DevOps for development pipelines and solution deployments, and agile implementation methodologies like Agile and Scrum.
  • Hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 Finance, SCM, and Commerce modules, with the ability to tailor them to complex business needs.


Documentation Skills:

  • Ability to create clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including project plans, architectural designs, and user guides.
  • Proficiency in creating training materials that align with technical solutions and user needs.


Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Strong team player with experience working collaboratively with technical and project teams, including developers, other architects, and project managers.
  • Proven experience in promoting a collaborative environment and effectively bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.


Client-Facing Skills:

  • Capable of managing client expectations and delivering solutions that align with enterprise-level business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Competence in presenting technical details in a clear and comprehensible manner to clients.


Additional Desirable Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of integrating Dynamics 365 with other business systems to form a seamless technological ecosystem.
  • A broad understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem, including deep proficiency with Office 365, Azure services, and their integration with Dynamics 365.

Ideally you will also have:

  • Work experience in a professional services environment a definite asset
  • This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and professionals nationally and globally. Professional competency in the English language is therefore a requirement of this role. Bilingualism in both French and English is considered an asset.
