The Opportunity
EY’s Health Consulting practice provides comprehensive performance improvement solutions to government, public, and private healthcare organizations across Canada. These solutions are delivered across several strategic service offerings, which include clinical and operational performance improvement, technology and digital transformation (including EHR/EMRs, automation, virtual health, and analytics), program reviews, strategy development and planning, workforce strategy and organizational design, major project/program advisory services, as well as system and care delivery model design and transformation. Our Health practice works closely and collaborates with our Government and Public Sector and Life Science practices.

We are seeking a consulting leader for the role of Senior Manager – Epic Implementation Advisory. This individual will play a key role in leading teams and supporting the growth of our Epic Advisory and Implementation practice across Canada. As a senior member of the healthcare team, this role will be counted on to provide leadership for Epic-specific accountabilities as well as demonstrating a general acumen across other facets of Digital Health.
Client Responsibilities
Epic Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage Epic advisory and implementation projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and timelines.
- Provide strategic technology advisory services to clients during implementation readiness, implementation, testing, go-live, and stabilization phases of Epic implementations.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and translate them into effective Epic solutions.
- Oversee the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Epic systems, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and point of contact for Epic-related matters.
- Manage project teams, including consultants, analysts, and technical staff, to deliver successful Epic implementations.
- Lead the planning and execution of training sessions and workshops for clients to ensure effective adoption and utilization of Epic.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to Epic and healthcare IT.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing, client presentations, and identifying new opportunities for Epic-related services.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all Epic-related projects.
General Digital Health Responsibilities:
- Lead large-scale client Digital Health engagements and the development of complex deliverables. Consistently deliver quality client services. Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk, and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Manage expectations of client service delivery. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business.
- Effectively lead and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Provide constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team members. Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment. Play an active role in counseling and mentoring consultants within the organization.
- Generate, pursue, and close new business opportunities. Understand Ernst & Young and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to serve client needs.
- Demonstrate deep strategic thinking, technical capabilities, and professional knowledge. Demonstrate the ability to quickly assimilate new knowledge. Possess in-depth business acumen. Remain current on new developments in advisory services capabilities and industry knowledge.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in technology consulting, with a focus on Epic advisory and implementation.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, health administration, technology, or equivalent experience.
- Epic certification(s) in relevant modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, Epic ASAP, etc.) is desirable.
- Previous experience as an Epic Analyst/Builder is desirable.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing Epic implementation projects from inception to completion.
- Strong executive-level presence with the ability to motivate and influence key decision-making with diverse stakeholders (client and vendor side).
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical processes, and revenue cycle management.
- Experience with digitized health record
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Digital Health consulting or operational management experience with prior experience as an advisor in a consulting firm or in a senior management role within a healthcare organization.
- Demonstrate an applied understanding and interest in technology and Digital Health strategy concepts, digital/technology transformations, operating models, service delivery transformation all while considering the disruptive technology trends (AI/ML, Cloud, APIs, Virtual Reality, product management, human-centered design) which are prevalent in today’s economy.
- Ability to lead a team of consulting professionals on multiple and/or large-scale projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- Willingness to travel as needed to client sites.
