The Opportunity


An SAP S/4HANA Asset Accounting Functional Lead is responsible for designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting the Asset Accounting (FI‑AA) module within SAP S/4HANA. The role bridges finance business requirements and SAP system functionality, ensuring accurate fixed asset lifecycle management and compliance with financial standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Business Analysis & Solution Design
    •    Engage stakeholders to gather and analyze asset accounting requirements and business processes. 
    •    Conduct workshops and perform fit-gap analysis for S/4HANA Finance solutions. 
    •    Translate requirements into functional design and SAP configuration specifications.
  2. SAP Configuration & Implementation
    •    Configure SAP FI‑AA components including: Asset classes, depreciation areas, and valuation methods, Asset master data and chart of depreciation
    •    Support end-to-end implementation and rollouts of S/4HANA Asset Accounting solutions. 
    •    Ensure integration with FI (GL/AP/AR), CO, MM, PM, and PS modules. 
  3. Asset Lifecycle Management Expertise
    •    Design and support processes across the entire asset lifecycle:
    •     Acquisition and capitalization
    •    Transfers and settlements
    •    Depreciation and valuation
    •    Retirement, sale, and scrapping  
  4. Testing & Deployment
    •    Lead/support: Unit testing, SIT, and UAT, Cutover planning and go-live activities  
    •    Validate financial postings, depreciation runs, and reporting accuracy.
  5. Data Migration & S/4HANA Transformation
    •    Support legacy asset migration into S/4HANA (data cleansing, mapping, validation).  
    •    Participate in S/4HANA conversion/greenfield projects, ensuring alignment with best practices.  
  6. Support & Continuous Improvement
    •    Provide post‑go‑live support and incident resolution.  
    •    Identify system gaps and recommend process improvements and optimization.  
    •    Maintain documentation and ensure audit readiness.
  7. Stakeholder Collaboration
    •    Work closely with: Finance and accounting teams, IT and SAP technical teams (ABAP), External vendors and auditors
    •    Act as a bridge between business and technical teams. 

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, or related field.   
  • Typical requirement: 5–10+ years SAP FI/AA experience (varies by role level).
  • Hands-on experience in: Full lifecycle SAP implementations and S/4HANA migration or transformation projects.
  • SAP certification (FI / S/4HANA Finance) preferred.
  • Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI‑AA).
  • Deep understanding of: Fixed asset accounting principles, Depreciation, valuation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of integration points (FI, CO, MM, PM, PS).
  • Experience with: SAP configuration (IMG), Data migration tools and methodologies, Testing and deployment processes.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have


Prior consulting experience and a demonstrated history of driving revenue within existing clients and in developing new prospects at the "C" level of Fortune 500 companie

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.  

  • Managers for Vancouver: $110,000 to $160,000
  • Managers for Toronto:  $110,000 to $160,000
  • Managers for Victoria:  $99,000 to $149,000
