The opportunity

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Government Contract Manager to lead and manage complex contractual engagements across federal, provincial, and municipal government clients. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and optimizing contract performance across a diverse portfolio of public sector initiatives.

As part of our growing Public Sector team, you will work closely with legal, finance, and delivery teams to monitor contract compliance and support engagements with various levels of government including municipalities and crown corporations.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with legal, finance and the delivery teams to support with government contract drafting ad negotiation.
  • Ensure compliance with government procurement policies/requirements while responding to requests (i.e. Request for proposal or information) and monitor compliance with governance standards applicable to engagements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor contract performance, track milestones, and manage renewals or amendments.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to resolve disputes and ensure contractual protections.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all contracts and related correspondence.
  • Support proposal development and pricing strategies for new government bids.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams on contract obligations and best practices.
  • Must understand large-scale public sector programs along with the contract and risk management activities and requirements associated with large-scale transformations.
  • Document and manage scope, schedule, deliverable, and cost changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and enforce ongoing project standards related to procedures, controls, and data privacy/security.
  • Ensure EY's quality and professional standards are maintained.

Skills and attributes for success

  • A strong understanding of the public sector including Federal and Provincial government ministries, crown corporations and municipalities.
  • Familiarity with security clearance processes and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effectively team with diverse skills and backgrounds and foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating enterprise domain knowledge with technology skills.
  • Demonstrate characteristics of a forward thinker and self-starter that thrives on new challenges and adapts quickly to learning new knowledge.
  • A strong work ethic.

To qualify for this role you must have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public administration, law, information systems, commerce, computer science, business, finance and/or other related major.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in government contract management, preferably within consulting or legal environments.
  • Proficiency in contract and risk management and Strong project management skills.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills in English, French language skills
  • You must possess or be able to obtain security clearance.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Proven experience of programme coordination and administration and Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel, as needed, to meet client needs and project commitments.

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $68,000 to $132,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
