The Opportunity

 

EY Canada is looking for an experienced candidate to help support the growth of our firm. You will join our General Counsel’s Office, a team of sophisticated in-house lawyers who are a respected and integrated part of our professional services firm.  You will act as a strategic advisor to our business and help EY's professionals negotiate complex commercial contracts with some of our most significant clients. 

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and act as a strategic advisor to EY business teams across Canada to help structure & negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Independently draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and related documents including responses to requests for proposals, NDAs, engagement letters, vendor, supplier, branding, licensing, information technology and service agreements, statements of work and master services agreements.
  • Analyze complex issues, problem solve and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Provide legal expertise on special projects and legal matters.
  • Contribute to internal process improvement and training initiatives.

  • Direct experience negotiating complex contractual agreements with clients and other third parties.

  • Highly motivated, hard-working and proactive


To qualify for the role, you must have

  • J.D from a recognized law school and member in good standing of a law society in any Canadian Province.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years post-call experience gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a sophisticated organization.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate/commercial law and experience reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
  • Superior writing, drafting and communication skills, in English.
  • French communication skills (written and spoken) would be considered a significant asset.
  • Ability to commute to our Toronto office.
