At EY Canada’s in-house Creative Studio, we believe great design is about more than just aesthetics—it’s a strategic force that drives business outcomes, builds reputation, and creates meaningful client experiences.

 

You’ll join our in-house Creative Studio in EY Canada’s Enterprise Support Services, helping support the important business enablement functions that keep our organization running strong. You will work across teams to provide creativity, enthusiasm and collaboration that helps deliver exceptional quality, win in the market, and support EY’s growth. 

 

In your role as an Intermediate Graphic Designer, you will assist various groups, teams and internal stakeholders with design needs to conceptualize shared ideas used in the development of compelling creative for campaigns, events, reports, and proposals. As a driven and passionate creative professional, you enjoy collaborating and working in tandem with your colleagues while striving to understand and anticipate customer’s needs to exceed expectations.

 

Your key responsibilities include: 

  • Understand, and using, EY brand standards, develop leading-edge designs and innovative ideas
  • Create layouts with strong typography and image selection (supporting design concept/story) and appropriate use of colour, images and fonts, draw and redraw images/graphics, allowing for readability of type and effective communication
  • Working with internal clients: Brand Marketing and Communications, Business Development, and other EY Canada teams to assist clients in selecting an effective design and deliverable solutions
  • Working with Creative Studio: Support the Creative Director, Design Director or Senior Designers in creative projects and production work for deliverables
  • Maintaining expertise or high proficiency with industry software and apps
  • Knowledge for troubleshooting technical issues in both digital and print based deliverables
    e.g. pre-press, document optimization and interactive elements
  • Sharing best practices, utilizing current techniques and advancements within the design community. Pursues and shares best practices with the design team
  • Participating in project meetings and positive discussions relating to design trends or recent case studies
  • Understanding stages and phases of a project lifecycle; anticipating scope creep, out-of-scope requests, communicating updates and managing any risk of deadline delays
  • Working with external vendors regarding the coordination of production for external products and services
  • Understanding, implementing, and strictly adhering to the quality standards and procedures established by Creative Studio and EY

 

Overtime will be required as needed.

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience in layout and editorial design, both with regards to creative and production
  • Strong background, knowledge and understanding of typography
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work with multiple projects/internal clients simultaneously
  • Collaborative, team-first mentality
  • A desire and willingness to learn, take on new projects and challenges to continue developing as designer
  • Proficient in Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint)
  • Experience in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro or motion graphics an asset, but not required
  • Committed to contributing to a strong team culture to ensure success
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with multiple stakeholders and colleagues alike
  • Develop and maintain relationships to efficiently leverage expertise
  • Sound judgement regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • Proven ability to meet multiple and/or unexpected deadlines in a demanding environment
  • Aptitude to differentiate when to act independently or team with others
  • Creative thinking with attention to detail

We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, curious, analytical, logical thinkers, have a very strong attention to detail. Being a strong team player is critical with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and be able to deliver on tight deadlines in support of our clients’ goals. To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • College diploma or technical certificate in Graphic Design
  • 4-6 years professional experience as a Graphic Designer

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $65,600 to $98,400. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
