The Opportunity and the team


EY Parthenon, part of the Strategy and Transactions Practice, has developed the world’s largest practice of dedicated specialists in process and operations improvement for working capital and balance sheet optimization. Our purpose is to help our client get the cash on hand they need for their strategic plans. We work with them to identify, prioritize and drive significant cash from the balance sheet, as well as improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve customer experience. Our work targets development of and with people, process and technology.


We are looking for an experienced practitioner with a supply chain background and relevant experience in one or more of: supply chain transformation, sourcing, procurement, logistics, manufacturing as well as product service and delivery.


Your role will be to lead and execute client projects in multiple business scenarios (including business transformation, continuous improvement, strategic review, mergers and acquisition) and with multidisciplinary team members. You will organize and take part in client interviews, performance analyses and internal problem-solving sessions leveraging your supply chain insights and learning about broader commercial, financial and strategic client problems. You will drive strategy and recommendation formulation (people, process, policy, technology) as well as presentation and implementation at our clients.


Directors on our team typically work with executive resources at our clients, lead one or several work-streams on engagements, and manage staff. Successful candidates will have had experience in performance management, process improvement and/or operations and can visualize our clients’ goals and think creatively to facilitate them.


Your key responsibilities

  • Work with our Clients: Lead the design and implementation of different kinds of supply chain or business improvement projects for private and public sector clients.
    • Assess a business' current policies and processes, lead design of analytical efforts involving transactional data, financial data, and/or supply chain data, identify root causes that have resulted in the current working capital / cash position.
    • Synthesize complex business issues, form initial hypotheses and identify the data / information required to confirm hypotheses.
    • Propose/develop recommendations to management to enable value creation.
    • Develop innovative solutions that transform the supply chain, improving performance and resiliency across the plan, source, make, deliver/return functions of the supply chain.
    • Present solutions, issues and findings in both a concise written and oral format.
    • Manage the financial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, developing budgets, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders
  • Develop yourself:
    • Keep up-to-date with current developments and trends in advisory services capabilities, technology and sector specific knowledge.
    • Form “trusted advisor” relationships with VP, SVP and C-Suite level resources at clients, deliver high degree of client satisfaction on engagements.
  • Develop your team:
    • Effectively train, and mentor team members with diverse skills and backgrounds.
    • Successfully lead and support business development activities to secure additional services or add on projects through building relationships with internal EY and external client networks.
    • Provide support, guidance and vision in improving and enhancing the team’s practice delivery methodology.

To qualify for the role, you must have a selection of:

  • A bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience; management consulting or large professional services organization experience is preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in one, or more, of supply chain transformation, sourcing, procurement, logistics, manufacturing as well as product service and delivery. Understanding of Procure 2 Pay processes is a plus.
  • Experience managing in complex business environments and leading supply chain, procurement, operational cost reduction, and/or finance process optimization projects.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively on projects and the skills to adapt quickly to new challenges and concepts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to develop business or propose and implement large-scale initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical and analytical capabilities – Excel required, familiarity with Microsoft applications (PowerBI, Azure, Databricks, SQL) and data analysis tools (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx) are a benefit.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, when necessary; travel is estimated at 50-80% but is subject to project requirements
