Privacy Impact Consultant

The opportunity
Privacy Impact Consultants are responsible for assisting Information Security and other teams at EY to navigate the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) process.  They have a unique skillset with a deep understanding of data privacy law, technology, and information security, and contribute to sustaining an effective data protection and compliance management posture.

Data privacy is complex.  In order to meet the increasing demand, we are opening up a Privacy Impact Consultant role to ensure that the standard of data privacy at EY is maintained and continues to remain in compliance with local and global data privacy laws and regulations.

With your understanding of data privacy within the context of technology, the Privacy Impact Consultant will be expected to collaborate with multiple technical and business-level teams teams, members of the EY General Counsel Office, and Global Privacy Network throughout the PIA process.  


Your key responsibilities
Day-to-day, this role will be:
•    Inputting, analyzing, and reporting on metrics and activity plans in support of continuous improvement of existing privacy frameworks
•    Developing an understanding of the PIA process in EY Technology
•    Providing input to help determine whether a technology requires a PIA
•    Assessing privacy risks associated on EY technologies
•    Assisting customer support with privacy-specific inquiries
•    Maintain your understanding of global data privacy laws and corporate policies that are impacting EY. 
•    Working with technology teams to successfully complete the PIA process from initiation to completion
•    Collaborating with Privacy Consulting Team members to understand the work that needs to be done
•    Conduct research to guide key decision-making
•    Inputting, analyzing, and reporting on activity plans
•    Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and attributes for success
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following core skills:
•    Deep understanding and working knowledge of privacy frameworks (GDPR, etc)
•    Strong work ethic that demonstrates analytical and critical thinking
•    Ability to communicate fluently in English on complex subjects and adapt communications to various audiences, including Executives, Sponsors, Management, overall organization and project teams – includes verbal, written and presentation skills
•    Attention to detail
•    Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing tasks accordingly, and communicating these priorities with management 
•    Work as a team to consistently learn and share advanced knowledge and practices that promote team excellence
•    Understanding of the importance of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on commitments
•    Ability to gain stakeholder buy-in and manage their expectations
•    Ability to collaborate across functional teams, cultures and geographies, and build trust virtually
•    Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
•    Understanding of project management methodology (includes project planning, and schedule and scope management)
•    Intermediate skills with MS Office
•    Confidence in decision-making
•    Highly organized and efficient

To qualify for the role, you must have
•    Judicial Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree with concentrations in Computer Science, Information Security, or Global Policies preferred
•    One or more of the following: CIPP, CIPT, CIPM CISSP, CRISC, CISA, FIP, CDPSE 
•    At least  4+ years’ experience in privacy and data protection, risk management, compliance or information security administration
•    Solid knowledge of local and global data privacy laws, regulations, and concepts
•    Experience conducting privacy and risk assessments
•    Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
•    Knowledge and experience working with technology teams, in particular information security 
•    Flexibility to work outside typical hours, as required of a global team

Ideally, you’ll also have
•    Proven trustworthiness and history of acting with integrity, taking pride in work, seeking to excel, being curious and adaptable, and communicating well
•    Excellence in communicating privacy, business risk and remediation requirements from assessments
•    Analytical and problem-solving mindset

•    Understanding of, and experience using, analytical concepts and statistical techniques.
