The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join the Markets Finance team for EY Oceania on a flexible, full-time permanent basis.
This role will work with leadership to drive our overall growth strategy for EY’s Market Segmentation & Industry structure. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will help navigate the business through the complexities of managing & reviewing monthly performance and translating financial data into commercial terms, providing insight into the account/engagement’s financial performance as well as forward thinking modelling and advice to support future financial decisions. Your key responsibilities
Reporting
- Responsible for monthly & weekly key performance reports to various stakeholders
- Monthly review of actuals with plan movements and provide explanation regarding the variances to leaders
- Provide key insights & analysis on the results and the commercial drivers behind it.
- Discussing & presenting the analysis with the respective stakeholders and providing advice.
- Simplification and streamlining of reporting through leveraging technology
Planning
- Manage the Global integrated planning processes for the Region, working with markets leaders to establish and embed appropriate stretch targets. Including aligning partner accountabilities with markets metrics; Identify potential risks and challenges in achieving revenue plan and advice on strategies to address these.
Commercial
- Providing key analysis on various drivers i.e., growth, margin & pricing
- Provide commercial analysis support for strategies & presentation and advise on commercial outcomes.
- Reviewing sales & pipeline and provide analysis when required to highlight key trends in the market for the firm’s footprint.
- The ability to perform modelling for predictive commercial outcomes.
Analysis
- Provide insights into performance by analysing data throughout the year on revenue, sales & pipeline, margin, trends, and annualized impacts, to support forward looking commercial insights and recommendations on how to achieve optimal financial performance.
- Creating and delivering insightful and impactful messaging to markets leaders, in support of decision making including placing financial metrics.
- Work with markets leadership / operations to identify reporting needs and strategy to respond including maximising usage of global reporting tool and library.
- Financial analysis related to engagement metrics and drivers (including margin improvement and resource/inventory management) to understand what is impacting performance.
- Build & maintain leverage modelling of staffing mix and how it impacts various KPI’s for a Client & Sector
- Provide decision support back to Service Lines & Markets respective stakeholders on various projects that provides valuable insights & clear direction for decisions to be made.
- Play an integral part in key strategies from leaders to provide thought provoking analytics to shed key information for the agenda at hand.
- Performing regular predictive modelling to drive the month outlook with our respective leaders
- Playing with big data and genuinely demonstrates the inquisitiveness of its nature.
Business Partnering
- Partnering with key stakeholders to act as the business advisor on various financial matters.
- Team closely with the Segment Operational Leaders & Market Operational Leaders to agree their priorities and focus which are aligned with the business needs and agreed oversight approach.
Technology
- Utilise & become a subject matter expert for all the technology at hand to provide digital based solutions to drive data visualisation & story telling.
- Become advocate on relevant technology and tools & provide where necessary training back to the wider team.
- Attend key meetings to discuss best practice on visualisation & analytics to drive decision making with varying level of audience.
Qualifications, knowledge & experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in a business analyst role
- Experience in a professional services environment preferred
- Experience in dealing with senior stakeholders
- Responds well under pressure
- Proven analytical skills
- Good skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Alteryx
- Excellent communication skills; the ability to negotiate and influence decision-making, and communicate effectively with senior management on progress, issues and resolutions
