The Opportunity

 

In a time where financial institutions have to identify and manage Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks in new ways, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to join our new and growing Financial Services ESG Risk Management team. The role is flexible and full time, to be based in Sydney.

 

Your role will be pivotal in building a strong ESG Risk Management business and position EY as a trusted advisor with our high-profile clients. The scope and potential for this role will shape and influence how the financial sector manages ESG risks. You will build points of view and deliver projects on emerging ESG risk areas that will directly contribute to the transformation of the industry.

The experience and passion you have for this field will enable, grow and nurture an energetic and dynamic team of people around you, who are equally passionate about all aspects of ESG risk management including climate risk. In the role of Senior Manager, you will be actively involved in building and leading execution on a portfolio of projects related to ESG risks and supporting the delivery of our go-to-market strategy.

Your key responsibilities

 

As a Senior Manager within the Risk team your role involves developing and implementing solutions both within your own team and in collaboration with others. To break down the different aspects of your role:

 

For business development, you will:

  • Develop and hold key relationships with risk leaders in ESG across financial services clients
  • Develop innovative solutions across the regulatory, risk, decarbonization and reporting agendas
  • Create tailored offerings, successfully taking them to our clients by leveraging our global network
  • Draw on your knowledge and experience to create practical and innovative insights for clients, contributing to EY thought leadership
  • Build partnerships and collaborations across the broader sustainable finance community at EY

 

On engagements, you will:

  • Develop and implement ESG risk management frameworks
  • Develop and implement end to end integration of ESG into clients’ business processes and capabilities
  • Manage teams, as well as senior client stakeholders and be responsible for delivering high quality results and generating effective and impactful solutions
  • Deliver engagements in line with our values and commitment to quality, consistently driving projects to completion

 

Within the risk practice you will:

  • Establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Effectively supervise, coach, mentor and lead people initiatives to empower high performing teams 

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

You will have:

  • Deep experience and understanding of financial services in domains across risk management, compliance, ESG, or 1st line business
  • Strong experience in sustainability and the ESG agenda, in particular climate risk
  • Working knowledge of sustainable finance products, together with practical experience in navigating sustainable finance solutions
  • Strong passion for sustainability and climate risk through demonstrated continuous learning and experience
  • High awareness of industry frameworks, research papers with deep knowledge in one or more domain (i.e. decarbonization solutions, ESG regulations, ESG data, climate risk stress testing, sustainable finance product strategies)
  • Strong business development skills to shape and win client proposals
  • Innovative and problem-solving mindset with the ability to understand a client problem and tailor a practical solution

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Relevant consulting experience in winning and leading risk management projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing industry studies and client presentations
  • Proven experience in leading highly motivated and successful teams
  • Success in building industry relationships and promoting a collaborative culture
  • Pride for being inspiring and authentic leader who supports their team’s career development
  • Sustainable Finance or climate risk certification or degree is a plus
