Having grown substantially over the past few years, our national economics practice is looking for a Senior Manager to play a leading role in growing our business, delivering complex and often high-profile engagements.

Our clients in the government and private sectors are facing challenging economic circumstances that requires clear headed, robust and practical advice. As a Senior Manager your role will be to bring that advice to our clients.

As part of our leadership team, you will help shape the strategic direction of our business. You will have ongoing exposure to teams and clients across the country, and internationally, and the opportunity to engage on important issues and to guide our market focus and develop the capabilities of our staff.

Ours is a capability rich economics practice. As a Senior Manager – Economics Practice, your role will be to leverage those capabilities to deliver high quality advice to our clients. Operating at a senior level in the business, your key responsibilities will be:

 

  • Working with the senior management team to identify and pursue market opportunities
  • Delivering high quality advice to our clients across the engagement cycle ranging from conceptualising problems to managing projects and taking responsibility for final deliverables and the client experience
  • Fostering the team-based culture of the business to bring the best of our capabilities to client engagements
  • Lifting the capabilities of our junior staff through mentoring and a commitment to providing on-the-job training opportunities
  • Thinking strategically about our business, its direction and capabilities

What we're looking for

Here’s our ‘wish list’ but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go. 

  • Degree qualified in economics or a related discipline with over 7 years of experience in a consulting, corporate or government setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and client management skills, including project management skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple deliverable
  • Excellent communication skills that have been applied, or are adaptable, to our business including writing proposals and reports, conducting meetings and managing projects
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting and writing-up research on economic, industry and policy issues

 Ideally, you’ll also have 

Our engagements range across multiple areas of the economy, familiarity and experience in areas such as energy, resources, climate change, infrastructure, trade and investment would be an advantage.

We undertake a broad range of services for our clients, familiarity or direct experience in policy and regulatory advice (including cost benefit analysis) as well as applied quantitative techniques such as computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling would be valuable.
