Senior Consultant – Financial Services – Financial Accounting Advisory Services

From small businesses to some of the world’s best-known brands, our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Practice partners with clients on commercially sound, practical and technical compliant accounting solutions; reliable financial statements; and financial processes to underpin their current business activities and inform their ongoing strategies. As a Senior Consultant you will combine your commercial experience and regulatory knowledge, with your capability in financial accounting to contribute to outcomes related to new policies, business cases and capital infrastructure projects; financial reporting; finance process improvement, budgeting, costing, major transactions and financial due diligence both domestically and internationally.

 

The Financial Services FAAS team further provides accounting, risk, treasury and other advisory services to audit and non-audit financial services clients, and supports other EY services lines in large multi-disciplinary projects.

 

This position is based in Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Planning and participating in various engagements. 
  • Preparing high quality deliverables tailored to client needs. 
  • Overseeing workstreams, small engagements and reviewing work performed. 
  • Developing an understanding of client’s industry sectors, recognising key performance drivers, business trends, and new technical and industry developments. 
  • Developing client insights, recommendations and/or options through automation, digitisation, and improvement of financial processes.

 

 

What we look for     

Ideally, you’ll have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn. 

  • CA or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Project management skills with the ability to execute under pressure. 
  • A degree in accounting and/or another appropriate academic major. 
  • Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/AASB). 
  • Experience working in a finance team. 
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and cross service line networks, addressing their concerns and providing value added recommendations. 
  • The ability to create a positive learning culture, and coach and counsel junior team members to help them to develop.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to working with management. 
  • Effective time management skills to meet deadlines on multiple client assignments.

The salary range for this role is AUD 92,500 to AUD 109,500 inclusive of superannuation dependent on skills, experience and work location.
