What’s in it for you?

EY Law is an established international law firm which is part of Ernst & Young. We act for both local and overseas clients through our numerous offices in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.   EY Law has a truly global footprint, comprising over 1800 lawyers across 75 countries. We work in conjunction with the market leading professionals of Ernst & Young to directly advise local and overseas clients on a broad range of significant corporate transactions.

Our EY Law corporate and commercial department is seeking a junior Corporate and Commercial Lawyer to join our practice in Sydney. Our department acts for both national and international clients.  This work includes a significant number of mergers and acquisition and corporate restructuring transactions.  Our clients have an international outlook and a number of our transactions involve either the sale of assets in international markets or an investment in an overseas location.   A lawyer with a strong interest and experience in corporate transactions would be well regarded.  We also act for quality businesses at all stages of the business lifecycle.

We will develop your career by providing excellent mentoring from highly experienced international lawyers.  We offer a high degree of responsibility to be involved in a hands on capacity including with client contact, transaction management and marketing/business development.

As our Corporate and Commercial Lawyer, your key responsibilities include:

  • Assist managers, senior managers and partners with corporate law matters.
  • Work on due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
  • Provide legal support and advice on various corporate law issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient handling of cases.
  • Participate in training and development activities to enhance legal skills.

What we’re looking for

Here’s our ‘wish list’ but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your strengths, what you want to learn, and how far you want to go.

  • 1-3 years of experience in corporate law, preferably with some exposure to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Strong general legal technical skills and a keen interest in commercial law.
  • Natural relationship building and inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to details.
  • Experience in working as part of a team, with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience in a law firm, either large or small, with hands-on corporate law experience.
  • Background in handling corporate transactions and due diligence.

Our roles can be adjusted to work flexibly with the potential of reduced hours to balance your time between the home and office. Please speak with us about potential options.
