Funds Lawyer – Financial Services Law

 

 

The opportunity

 

As a Senior Associate in our Financial Services Law team, you’ll will play a crucial role helping us solve our client’s legal problems in a highly regarded busy practice. Your expertise will be key in providing innovative solutions and fostering a supportive environment where diverse prospectives are valued.

 

This is a hybrid position based in Warrang – Sydney or Naarm - Melbourne. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Advise on regulatory issues, reforms and compliance programs for Australian financial services businesses, including fund managers, responsible entities/trustees, superannuation funds and other participants in the financial services industry.
  • Provide legal guidance on licensing, corporate establishment and the structure, disclosure and conduct requirements for new financial products and services.
  • Draft complex fund and corporate documents, integrating legal analysis and advice within multi-disciplinary teams for domestic and foreign financial services providers
  • Assist with raising our team’s and lawyers’ profile in the market through business development and marketing initiatives such industry and client presentations, tenders and campaigns.
  • Participate in high-quality training, supervision and mentoring from senior lawyers and partners to help you develop your legal skills and commercial acumen within a positive and supportive environment.

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • At least 5 years post-qualification experience in legal practice.
  • Experience in Australian financial services industry is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with privacy law and/or anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations.
  • Genuine interest in financial services industry and funds management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high-quality writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide sound legal advice.
  • A proactive learner with a collaborative spirit, eager to contribute to a dynamic team environment.
