The opportunity

As a Director in our Employment Tax team, you will play a senior leadership role in growing our business, deepening strategic client relationships and shaping the future of our national practice.

You will advise Australian and multinational organisations on complex employment tax matters, acting as a trusted adviser to senior executives and key decision-makers. A central part of the role will be identifying emerging client needs, originating and winning new work, and leveraging your professional network and existing relationships to create new opportunities for the wider firm.

You will take responsibility for the quality and commercial success of engagements, including providing senior technical direction, signing off on advice and key deliverables, negotiating scope and fees, and managing engagement risk. You will also lead and develop high-performing teams, promote collaboration across service lines and contribute to the continued development of our technology-enabled employment tax offerings.

Our Employment Tax practice operates as a well-integrated national team, with specialists located across Australia. This provides the opportunity to lead nationally significant engagements, collaborate with colleagues across the firm and build a distinctive market profile.

This is a hybrid position, preferably based in Warrang – Sydney, but may also consider Naarm – Melbourne,  Boorloo – Perth, or Meanjin – Brisbane. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive growth and client relationships: Identify and win new business opportunities, lead proposals and pitches, build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and leverage networks to generate opportunities across Employment Tax and the wider firm.
  • Provide technical and engagement leadership: Act as a senior technical authority across employment tax matters, review and sign off on complex advice, and lead large, high-profile engagements to deliver quality outcomes while managing risk and commercial performance.
  • Lead and develop people: Inspire, coach and sponsor team members, foster an inclusive and high-performing culture, and create development opportunities across the national team.
  • Contribute to practice growth and innovation: Drive the adoption of technology, automation and data insights, develop scalable solutions, and work with Partners and Directors to shape strategy, strengthen the pipeline and support sustainable business growth.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Business development and market presence: Proven ability to originate and win new work, build a sustainable pipeline, lead successful proposals, and establish a credible profile through client engagement, thought leadership and professional networks.
  • Client and commercial leadership: Strong relationships with senior decision-makers, commercial acumen in scoping, pricing and managing engagements, and the ability to balance client outcomes, risk and quality requirements.
  • Technical expertise: Deep employment tax knowledge across Australian employment taxes, with the judgement and confidence to provide senior technical direction and sign off on complex advice and significant client deliverables.
  • Leadership and innovation mindset: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop diverse teams, influence senior stakeholders, collaborate across boundaries, and leverage technology, automation and data analytics to enhance service delivery and client solutions.
