Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Consultant to join our Private Equity Deal Origination team in Sydney.
Recognised as a market leader in sourcing proprietary and off-market investment opportunities across Oceania, the team supports private equity clients through investment themes, market insights and deal origination opportunities.
Your key responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Origination, as a valued member of the team you will:
- Formulate and develop investment thematics suitable for Private Equity funds.
- Identify leading companies and businesses for investment opportunities.
- Prepare market-leading insights, intelligence and discussion materials for select Private Equity funds.
- Engage with business founders, management teams, advisors and Private Equity funds to drive deal pipeline.
- Assist Private Equity clients to unlock proprietary investments as a key member of an experienced, market-leading team.
- Build external relationships with dealmakers across Private Equity funds.
- Build internal relationships with Directors, Partners and Senior Partners across the EY-Parthenon business globally.
Skills and attributes for success
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.
- Outstanding business acumen and commercially astute, with the ability to identify and assess industry and business specific risks and opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate ideas and viewpoints in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong research and financial analysis skills.
- Exposure to corporate finance, M&A, Private Equity or investment-related concepts is advantageous but not essential.
- An interest in the Private Equity sector and investment landscape.
- Self-starter with initiative, high drive and a bias for action.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to achieve success in smaller team settings.
- A bachelor’s degree.
What we look for
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a keen interest in Private Equity, having more than 3 years professional experience gained in either M&A advisory, management consulting, strategy consulting, transaction advisory, equity or industry research.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong industry research experience, sector analysis and market-mapping capabilities, and the ability to identify emerging trends, investment themes and commercial opportunities.
