The Opportunity
EY’s Transaction Analytics team is growing, and we are seeking high‑calibre Managers and Senior Managers to join our market‑leading Deals practice. This is a unique opportunity for professionals who understand how transactions work end‑to‑end and can use data and analytics to influence commercial outcomes across the deal lifecycle. You will sit at the intersection of transactions, analytics and commercial insight — working alongside M&A, Strategy, Valuations, Corporate Finance and transaction services teams to support clients on both buy‑side and sell‑side engagements. In this role, you will combine hands‑on analytics delivery with senior stakeholder engagement, helping clients cut through complexity and make confident, value‑driven decisions at critical moments in a transaction.
This role reflects EY’s continued investment in Transaction Analytics and offers the opportunity to build a differentiated career path — leveraging both your technical capability and deal judgement on high‑impact, fast‑paced engagements.
Your key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver transaction‑focused analytics across the deal lifecycle, including buy‑side diligence, sell‑side preparation, carve‑outs and post‑deal value creation.
- Apply commercial judgement to shape analytics that answer the real questions faced by investors and management, rather than purely technical outputs.
- Work closely with M&A, Corporate Finance, Valuations, Strategy and Transaction Diligence teams, acting as a bridge between data, deals and decision‑makers.
- Design and execute advanced analytics to identify value drivers, risks, trends and anomalies within large and complex datasets.
- Translate complex analysis into clear, commercially relevant insights for clients, including private equity, corporates and boards.
- Support Partners and Directors with business development, including proposals, pitches and client discussions, bringing a strong understanding of how analytics enhances deal outcomes.
- Coach and develop team members, building analytics capability while reinforcing commercial thinking and deal context.
- Stay at the forefront of analytics tools, transaction trends and emerging data‑driven deal approaches.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong deals experience, with an understanding of the transaction lifecycle across buy‑side and sell‑side engagements (e.g. M&A, transaction diligence, valuations, restructuring or corporate finance).
- Strong analytics capability with a solid foundation in applying data-driven insights in a transaction context, including advanced experience working with large, complex transactional or operational datasets; the ability to translate business questions into robust analysis; and strong proficiency in Alteryx as a core delivery tool, with working knowledge of SQL, Python and/or R highly regarded for bespoke analysis, review and coaching
- Commercial background and mindset — ideally a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent), or experience gained in Audit, Valuations, Corporate Finance or a business analysis role within professional services or industry.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and articulate insights through a clear commercial lens.
- A natural collaborator who thrives in fast‑paced deal environments and enjoys working across multidisciplinary teams.
Why EY Transaction Analytics?
EY has been recognised by Mergermarket as the #1 deal advisor by value and volume of deals in Australia and New Zealand for seven consecutive years. As part of this team, you will work on some of the region’s most significant transactions while developing a distinctive skill set that combines analytics excellence with deal fluency.
If you’re looking to apply your technical and commercial strengths to transactions that truly matter — and want exposure to high‑profile clients, complex deals and a clear growth pathway — this could be the opportunity for you.
