Senior Consultant / Consultant – Business Controls Assurance & Advisory Services
The opportunity
As a Senior Consultant / Consultant, you will bring a strong foundation in business process controls, financial risk, and assurance advisory, with experience across risk and controls, process assurance, and controls transformation initiatives.
The role focuses on supporting clients to strengthen their internal control environments, financial controls frameworks, and end-to-end business processes. You will work collaboratively with clients and EY engagement teams to deliver high‑quality assurance and advisory outcomes.
The primary focus of this role is on business-led controls, financial risk, and advisory-driven outcomes. You will also have exposure to AI-enabled assurance and analytics tools to enhance risk assessment, control testing, and insight generation.
This position is based in Warrang – Sydney office. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your key responsibilities
- Lead and manage projects delivering Assurance and/or Assurance Advisory services, including business process walkthroughs, risk assessments, and controls evaluation
- Collaborate with clients to design and implement effective business process and financial controls frameworks, aligned to regulatory and operational requirements
- Provide Assurance and/or Assurance Advisory support across financial risk, SOX compliance, ESG compliance, and other relevant regulatory frameworks
- Support controls transformation and process improvement initiatives, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of control environments
- Prepare high‑quality reports and presentations summarising key findings, insights, and practical recommendations for stakeholders, with IT General Controls forming a complementary component
- Mentor, coach, and support junior team members in their professional development and day‑to‑day engagement delivery
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory developments, and leading practices in risk management, controls, and compliance
Skills and attributes for success
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Technology, or a related discipline
- Strong interest in AI and emerging technologies, and how they can be applied to risk management, controls, compliance, and assurance outcomes
- Experience using data analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools within Assurance, Risk, Audit, or Consulting engagements (desirable, not mandatory)
- One or more of the following, with 3+ years’ experience:
- Business process controls / internal audit / process assurance
- Financial risk and controls (including SOX or similar frameworks)
- Controls transformation or process improvement initiatives
- Advisory experience in risk, controls, or governance
- Exposure to IT General Controls (beneficial, not essential)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and team members
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CA, CIA, CPA, CISA, PMP or equivalent) are advantageous

The salary range for this role is AUD 89,000 to 106,500 inclusive of superannuation dependent on skills, experience and work location.
