Accounting Operations Consultant
The opportunity
As our Accounting Operations Consultant you will be part of the Statutory and Close team within the Accounting and Controlling function of the internal finance team. You’ll have exposure to the firm’s financial information across Oceania and the opportunity to work and collaborate with other finance functions, the broader business and leadership to provide technical accounting guidance; support and educate teams on our Global Finance Policies and be responsible for the ongoing review and maintenance of the firm’s internal financial accounts and reconciliations.
This is a full time permanent role and can be performed from any of our EY offices across Australia. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your key responsibilities
- Deliver insightful accounting advice and support to the finance team and broader business, including liaising across teams, educating on processes, and ensuring accurate implementation of accounting treatments and general ledger use by active collaboration.
- Manage and review balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, analysing balances for management reporting insights, and provide ongoing support and updates to finance leaders.
- Prepare and review key financial reports, oversee and participate in year-end close activities and co-ordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure accuracy and compliance of our processes, policies and controls, and drive process improvements.
Skills and attributes for success
- CA, CPA or an equivalent completed certification
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of IFRS and key accounting principles
- 3 years or more of financial accounting experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience using SAP software
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (knowledge of Power BI and Power Query would be advantageous)
- Strong problem solving and collaboration skills
