About the team
Our Channel Islands Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy (‘T&RS’) team delivers formal restructuring work, both solvent and insolvent, as well as advisory work, both stressed and distressed.
T&RS sits within EY’s wider Strategy and Transactions service-line and delivers other transaction work, most notably transaction diligence.
Our clients can be companies, government bodies or financial stakeholders and can involve businesses, corporate vehicles, funds and private wealth structures.
Role
As an Assistant Director (Senior Manager), you'll manage the engagement by defining the engagement scope, in consultation with the Partner, and deliver it in compliance with our policies.
You will take responsibility for leading engagements, reporting to the engagement Partner, project managing the rest of the team, coordinating deliverables from teams tasked to deal with discreet aspects of assignments, communicating issues to the Partner and driving the project to completion with limited supervision.
You'll actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships and make sure that delivered client work is of high quality. As part of this, you'll anticipate and identify risks and escalate issues, as appropriate.
You’ll also be involved in developing proposals and bids, and be expected to help generate sales, via existing and new client and internal relationships.
As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.
Skills and attributes for success
- Display a high level of commercial acumen
- Knowledgeable in terms of formal restructuring assignments undertaken in accordance with the laws of the Channel Islands and the United Kingdom
- Able to identify key issues on assignments and suggest workable solutions
- Be able to gather, verify and analyse information to formulate views / conclusions
- Proficient in detailed financial analysis and be able to identify potential areas of sensitivity, ideally with advanced ability to use MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Experienced in presenting findings clearly and concisely in reports and other deliverables to clients
- Ability to share technical and other knowledge with the team drawing on previous experience and current learning
- Good project management skills, with the ability to manage more than one assignment at a time and still demonstrate quality and consistency of performance in every task
- Be able to build effective relationships at all levels
- Strong appreciation of risk management
To qualify for the role you must have
- Professional accountancy qualification
- JIEB and / or CPI qualification an advantage but not essential
- Track record within a recognised team for a minimum of 5 years and have been a manager for a minimum of 3 years or promoted to senior manager
- Experience of leading both business reviews and / or formal corporate insolvencies, off-shore and / or on-shore
- Strong commercial experience and / or relevant industry experience and / or restructuring or transaction experience
- The ability to build strong internal and external relationships and actively participate in business development
