The IT Facilities & Restricted Country Operations Specialist provides technical support of a complex nature for the firm's server environment and associated hardware and operating systems. This professional applies knowledge of Windows and VMware, Storage and network operations practices as well as good hardware and infrastructure experience to various platforms. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the firm's infrastructure to resolve complex incidents and problems and to provide a stable and reliable infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Provides support for infrastructure services hardware, operating system, and software platforms.
  • Server Configuration Changes as outlined in Remedy request such as:
  • ini file updates, IIS setting changes, changes to IP stack 
  • Server domain change
  • File copies, deletions
  • Software Migrations - copy and run an executable, file copy
  • Password Changes
  • Remote Desktop access to server requests
  • Scheduled server reboots    
  • Request for Information (i.e. server configuration data)
  • Veritas NetBackup File Restore – Notes mail files, Notes database files, ECF, general
  • Server Administration – account access 
  • Software Installations – BEST1, hotfix, IIS, SSH, Service Pack, other
  • Scripted Windows server builds
  • Perfmon setup – Setup standard perfmon counters upon request.
  • Monthly Microsoft Security Patch monitoring and manual deployments
  • VMware template upgrades (mostly Windows knowledge)
  • Inventory updates into asset management database
  • Data centre Facilities maintenance and management

 

Skills and attributes for success

 

  • Fluent English skills in speech and writing
  • Approximately 5-7 of relevant work experience, minimum of 3 years’ experience in various aspects of technology infrastructure management and operations, with more specific experience in running and in supporting a mission critical production environment. 
  • Experience with various aspects of hosting center technology infrastructure management and operations with experience in maintaining larger-scale data centers preferred
  • Strong knowledge of facility technologies (HVAC, power distribution, generated back-up power, rack management and Data Centre cable plant)

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

 

  • A degree in Computer Science/Management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Large scale Windows Systems Administration experience (Windows 2016/2019 Servers) 
  • Experience in maintaining mission critical production systems running in a data centre environment. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Dell and HP server hardware.
  • Excellent knowledge of Dell blade server hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware ESXi
  • Active Directory administration experience
  • Understanding of IP protocols, network, and domain administration
  • Knowledge of systems performance analysis and security tuning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of E&Y tool sets (ServiceNow, SCCM, OVO, Dell ITA, Intelliwatch, MOM, Microsoft Teams, Windows Failover Cluster Management)
  • Ability to document processes and procedures
  • Strong Knowledge of SAN and Storage
  • Strong working knowledge in ITIL Incident Management
  • Ability to work and team effectively with clients, management, and its staff members

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

 

  • Progressive levels of certification as a Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS) are required to properly examine a data facility’s directives according to industry standards
