Finance provides a wide range of services including Accounting and Tax teams which enable business management to make better decisions and satisfy our regulatory requirements. We do this by creating and maintaining globally aligned accounting and tax policies and efficient, rationalized processes.
The opportunity
As a Tax Accountant Associate in EY’s internal tax department, you'll be responsible for preparing and filing multi-jurisdictional tax returns for the firm and/or the Partnership Tax group. You will execute the tax calendar so that all federal and state tax returns and associated tasks are completed by established due dates. You will also perform reconciliation and analysis of reports, and review and documentation of internal processes. You may also prepare reports and analysis of financial information for business leaders.
Your key responsibilities include
- Preparing and filing various types of tax returns including federal, state, local filings, estimated tax and extensions in accordance with firm policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Assisting with the annual partner tax questionnaire process to update the tax module database for changes transmitted for partner filing status, exemptions, nonresident tax filings, etc.
- Performing analysis and reconciliation of tax reports and analyzing refunds received.
- Researching and analyzing processed accounting transactions.
- Performing tax research and preparing responses which may include reporting and analysis of financial information to inquiries from various tax jurisdictions and internal EY business leaders.
- Identifying processing or tax issues and escalate accordingly.
- Assisting with special projects as requested.
Skills and attributes for success
- Ability to identify and determine the taxability of transactions for all goods and services procured by the firm
- Good business judgment when analyzing the nature of goods and services procured to determine the appropriate taxability
- Demonstrated healthy skepticism when analyzing transactional data (i.e. accounts payable invoices, fixed assets records, payroll costs, etc.) in the Firm’s financials
- Ability to identify issues that may create potential financial exposure and/or risk to the Firm and escalate the issues appropriately
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 0 to 3+ years of tax, accounting, finance or related experience
- Working knowledge of tax, finance, accounting principles, and internal controls
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- A positive attitude and approach, a willingness to accept new challenges, and an ability to be flexible and open to change
- Commitment to delivering quality work, a willingness to team with others, and dedication to creating a positive work environment
Ideally, you'll also have
- State and local tax experience
- Strong excel skills

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $49,100 to $89,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $58,900 to $101,200. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
