National - Indirect Unclaimed Property Services Tax Manager - SDC - San Antonio
Our Unclaimed Property Service Delivery Center (UP SDC) consists of unclaimed property professionals specializing in the recovery of assets, reporting of assets to applicable states, and assisting our clients with unclaimed property audits, voluntary disclosure agreements and policy and procedure enhancements. Examples of assets include uncashed checks, unapplied accounts receivable credits, unredeemed gift cards, etc. Our UP SDC assists clients, which vary in all industries and size of companies, in managed services, to comply with state unclaimed property rules and regulations. In addition, UP SDC provides outsourcing of printing services for non UP documents.

Your key responsibilities
- Lead and manage client communication, including data requests, property updates, approvals, signatures, and payment requests.
- Oversee the process of receiving, analyzing, and importing the data received by the client, applying applicable exemptions and deductions, formatting and identification of businesses, intercompany transactions, and insufficient addresses.
- Supervise the preparation of reconciliations and trackers using unclaimed property software and Excel.
- Manage unclaimed property mailings and processing of responses, including generating letters, printing, mailing, scanning, and filing, as well as call-center support for owner inquiries.
- Ensure the preparation and assembly of final unclaimed property report packages.
- Oversee and track the calendar for each client to ensure timeline of compliance tasks and reporting due dates for each reporting season.
- Collaborate with the consulting team to ensure accuracy of reporting.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance and support.
- Manage the facilities and equipment for the team, ensuring all necessary resources are available and functioning properly.
- Coordinate with IT and facilities management to maintain and upgrade equipment and software as needed.
- Ensure a safe and efficient working environment for the team, addressing any facilities-related issues promptly.

To qualify for the role, you must have
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, but not required.
- Certification preferred (such as CPA) but not required upon hire.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant facilities management or unclaimed property experience within a professional services or large corporate environment.
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiatives when the need arises.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to multi-task, remain calm and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to details, organization, and good problem-solving skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Technical expertise and experience related to annual compliance reporting either in unclaimed property or other tax disciplines (i.e. sales/use taxes, payroll taxes).
- Experience establishing and maintaining the “back office” functions required in a compliance processing environment, including, the hardware and software required to operate the business (i.e., third-party software, mail room, and call center support functions).
- Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing team members.
- Experience with facilities management, including coordinating with IT and facilities teams to maintain and upgrade equipment and software.
